Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 1996: Chapter 1989: Awakening

Qin Jian arrived holding a bouquet of fresh flowers, the scent of carnations mixed with lilies gently permeating the air.

He walked towards An Hao, whose serene sleeping face looked so peaceful, and bent down to plant a soft kiss on her cheek: “Morning! An Hao!” Then he straightened up and waved to the two little ones standing at the door: “Come on, say hello to Mom!”

The two little ones were almost three years old now, much taller than they were during the New Year.

Compared to when An Hao first fell into her deep sleep, the two little ones had matured quite a bit.

Upon hearing their father’s call, the two walked over to An Hao’s bedside, tiptoed to her cheek and said, “Good morning, Mom!”

Qin Jian watched with satisfaction as the two little ones greeted An Hao, then turned to replace the wilting flowers in the vase at the bedside, before walking to the window and opening it with a lift of his hand.

Fresh air rushed in, and the slanting rays of sunlight softly illuminated An Hao’s face, peaceful and beautiful.

Not far off, a few magpies flapped their wings and landed on the window lattice, chirping away.

This morning was ordinary yet beautiful.

“Why don’t you talk to Mom! Tell her about what’s been happening lately.” After Qin Jian said this, he picked up the plastic basin and went to the restroom down the hallway to fetch water to wash An Hao.

When he returned, he saw the two little ones gathered around An Hao, eagerly sharing stories about recent happenings.

He allowed himself a faint smile at the corner of his lips, then sat down and, with great care, dampened a towel to gently wipe An Hao’s fingers.

“Mom, Yangyang and I have started preschool. There’s a teacher there I like very much, she’s pretty and gentle, she feels just like you.”

Ning Chenguang mumbled with his little mouth.

“Miss Yuan is very beautiful, but I don’t like her that much. They all say Miss Yuan is the most beautiful woman in the world, but I think Mom is. Mom, hurry and wake up, let them see you’re the most beautiful…” The two little ones chattered for quite a while, until they felt parched.

“Dad, can Mom really wake up?” Looking at the unresponsive An Hao, the two little ones felt somewhat deflated.

“She can! She definitely can! Just keep talking to her! Sweeties, you are the ones Mom cares about most, and as long as you want Mom to wake up soon, she definitely will.”

After Qin Jian kindly reassured the two little ones, he stood up and carried the basin of water away.

In the hospital room, the two little ones were seriously conversing.

“I heard Aunt Qiushu’s fairy tale, she said when the prince kisses the princess, the princess wakes up.

But we’ve kissed Mom so many times, and she hasn’t woken up?” Ning Chenguang said.

“Maybe it’s because we didn’t kiss Mom on her lips?” Ning Chenyang murmured, glancing at An Hao before nodding in certainty, “I think it must be that way. I’ll kiss Mom on the lips and see if she wakes up.”

And so, with this thought, he proceeded to do just that.

Standing on tiptoe, he puckered his lips and kissed An Hao on the lips.

In that instant, a miracle happened.

An Hao felt the warmth at the corner of her mouth, her eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes.

“Yangyang! Mom woke up, she’s awake…” Ning Chenguang saw An Hao open her eyes, and he was overjoyed, clapping his hands and jumping excitedly.
