Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 1983: Chapter 1976 Take a Walk

“Mom, I want to eat tangyuan too!” Chenyang shouted.

“I want to go too.” Ning Chenguang chimed in. For them, eating was also a way to explore a new world.

“Since the kids all want to go, let’s go too! On a cold day like this, it’s nice to warm ourselves with a bowl of tangyuan!” Qin Jian said with hungry anticipation, his fingers feeling cold.

“Alright, let’s all go together. To be honest, I’m craving it a bit too!” Gu Shuangshuang said, nearly drooling at the mention of food.

The two families started making their way down the street. Indeed, this year, South Street was bustling with activity, with many vendors selling tangyuan, lined up like a dragon.

This was something that hadn’t happened in previous years!

Many people were eating tangyuan, sitting at the stalls, each with a bowl in front of them, enjoying the sweet and sticky tangyuan, their faces filled with happiness and joy.

“Let’s find a seat first.” Tian Niu said as he looked around.

“Hey, sister and brother-in-law, over here!” At the end of the line, An Ping saw them and stood up, waving eagerly.

By the time An Hao and the others got there, a few people had just finished eating their tangyuan, set down their bowls, and left, freeing up space for them.

“Sister, brother-in-law! And my clever, cute, and beloved little nephew! Why are you also here to see the lanterns?” An Ping excitedly asked as soon as they sat down.

“Actually, I should be asking you guys that, right?” South Street wasn’t very far from their home, but it was quite a distance from the vegetable company.

“We rarely celebrate the New Year in the city. Last year was unpleasant because of something at Second Uncle’s house. It’s the same this year. I just wanted to make Dad happy, so I came all the way here.” An Ping leaned in and whispered.

“I understand. After all, Second Uncle is Dad’s younger brother! Ever since An Hui went to prison, no one has been looking after Second Uncle!” An Hao sighed deeply at the mention of this.

After Jiang Guixiang and An Hui both ended up in prison, Father An Shuchao insisted on bringing Second Uncle back.

An Baoguo stayed at the vegetable company for two days before quietly leaving on his own.

No one knows where he went.

His health had deteriorated to the extreme, and he probably didn’t have many days left.

An Shuchao just wanted his brother to have a peaceful departure, a warm haven before he passed.

However, it’s unclear what An Baoguo was thinking. Perhaps he had a change of heart and didn’t want to burden his older brother’s family anymore.

Maybe he still harbored resentment towards his brother, and as he faced the end, he did something that left An Shuchao troubled and restless.

“Isn’t that true? In this cold winter, where could a terminal cancer patient like him go? Today is the Lantern Festival, and seeing those round tangyuan, he couldn’t help but feel sad. So I brought him here to enjoy the lively atmosphere and to let him relax a bit…”

“Hmm,” An Hao nodded and moved closer to An Ping.

She saw her father An Shuchao talking with Qin Jian, the two speaking in low tones, but she could see the faint smile on her father’s lips and his gradually relaxed expression.

An Hao also smiled gently.

She was just about to say a few words to her father An Shuchao when she heard Ning Chenyang suddenly shout, “I want that lantern… that one!”
