Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1940: Chapter 1934: The Child Doesn’t Know Fear

After downing half a bottle of baijiu, Tian Ermei felt extremely dizzy, with her cheeks as red as if they were on fire.

She blinked a few times, swayed her body, and finally fell onto the bed unconscious.

”Come in.” An Baoguo tossed the sweater aside, wiped the sweat off his face, and called out to his mother and son, ”She’s already drunk.”

Jiang Guixiang looked satisfied at the sight of the unconscious Tian Ermei, patting her son’s shoulder: ”Your dad and I are going out to the pub at the door for a couple of drinks. You go ahead and do your business at home! No need to rush, take your time.”

”Okay.” An Hui rubbed his hands together, feeling both nervous and excited.

Ning Yibin came back early today, and he brought some fresh stuff – two wild rabbits and a wild chicken.

The orderly, Little Liuliu, put these things on the ground and asked Zhang Yun for scissors: ”Auntie, let me deal with these wild game.”

”Wow, so much stuff? Did you catch all of it?” Zhang Yun looked at the pile on the ground and asked happily.

Ning Yibin said while taking off his military uniform, ”Not at all! A few of us old folks caught it together.”

Today they went for an inspection, and coincidentally, a certain unit of the army was conducting target shooting training.

They went from shooting at dead targets to live ones.

In the army, there is a rumor that his shooting skills are good, and his old subordinates urged him to show off a bit.

So he casually fired a few shots and happened to hit some targets.

The few old folks who went with him also joined in, so they had this bit of harvest.

He thought about leaving it for the warriors, but his old subordinates urged him to bring it back for the two grandsons to play with.

So he brought the stuff back.

”An Hao, bring the kids down,” Zhang Yun called out while pulling a few feathers off the wild chicken, then disinfected them with alcohol.

When An Hao came down with the kids, she saw her mother-in-law handing over the feathers: ”To amuse the kids?”

The grandkids showed no interest in the little gifts that grandma had prepared with full enthusiasm.

”Grandpa, bunny... dead... gun, bang!” Ning Chenyang’s language ability was slightly less than his brother’s; he was nearly two years old but could use simple words to express himself.

He was clearly more interested in how grandpa shot the rabbits.

While Ning Chenguang twisted his little waist, walked over to squat beside, eyes unblinking as he watched him skin the rabbit.

”Guangguang, don’t watch, children shouldn’t see this.” Zhang Yun thought this scene was too bloody and wanted to take Chenguang away, but Chenguang refused.

”You go away! You’re blocking me from watching the rabbit being killed!” The child used the most melodious language to describe a cruel scene.

”Sweetie, what’s there to see in killing a rabbit? Grandma will take you to watch something else.” Zhang Yun didn’t want her precious grandson to see such bloody scenes, so she reached out to hug him.

”No. I want to watch.” Ning Chenguang waved his hands, refusing to leave.

”Look at how bold this kid is.” Zhang Yun grumbled discontentedly.

”What do kids know about being scared?” An Hao was indifferent, and she didn’t find the current scene scary at all.

”Who says kids don’t know fear? They might get frightened and lose their nerve; then they’ll be timid in the future.”

”Mom, your words are so contradictory!” An Hao said with a smile, ”No need to worry too much, there’s nothing to be afraid of.”
