Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1935: Chapter 1929: Forgot Her Existence

”Tiantian! Have you changed because your memory has returned?” Tiantian’s mom asked, looking at her daughter with concern.

”Yes.” Hong Mei thought it was a good excuse and took the opportunity to say, ”You’re right. Remembering the sister who was lost back then, my heart feels like it’s being cut by a knife, and I’m in unbearable pain. Mom and dad, I beg you, let me live as if I never had this sister! Don’t mention her to anyone, remember, anyone. And please ask the villagers to keep it a secret for me!”

”Don’t worry!! The villagers are kind-hearted; after that incident, almost no one in the village mentions it anymore.” Because back then, she was nearly driven insane by these events and had several suicide attempts.

So, Tiantian’s dad also instructed the villagers to forget about his daughter’s existence, no matter who they were.

The villagers naturally understood Tiantian’s dad’s meaning and those who knew just stopped bringing it up.

As time passed, the elderly in the village grew old, passed away, or moved away.

There weren’t many left who knew about the incident.

That’s why An Hao didn’t get even a hint when inquiring with people.

Hearing her parents’ assurances, Hong Mei let out a gentle sigh of relief.

She believed that if her parents said it, they would certainly do it.

.....................

In the evening, Tian Niu dragged his weary body home, pushed open the door, fully expecting the living room to be a complete mess again.

Seeing the scene in front of him, he was slightly stunned.

The room was cleaned spotless, the table wiped until it shone, and a mat was laid on the floor, where the three-month-old Nannan was rolling around, occasionally letting out cheerful giggles.

”Is today... like New Year’s?” Tian Niu wondered, dazed.

”What? Can’t get used to the house being this clean?” Gu Shuangshuang was holding a cloth, working hard with her younger sister cleaning, but her expression was very pleased.

”Yeah, a bit.” Tian Niu rubbed his nose and asked, ”Where are those two?”

”Gone. They packed and left this afternoon, and they promised never to bother us again.” The younger sister’s words were filled with joy.

”Really?” Tian Niu perked up, took off his uniform, and snatched the cloth from Gu Shuangshuang and her sister’s hands, ”You two have been working hard these days; let me handle the rest.”

”You’ve been through a lot. I almost misunderstood you...” Gu Shuangshuang said apologetically to Tian Niu.

”It’s nothing. But through this incident, I’ve learned something, a lesson,” Tian Niu said thoughtfully, ”I really need to learn from our leader; even when surrounded by temptations, he can make others believe he won’t entertain any of them.”

”I also want to learn from An Hao.” She trusts her husband absolutely.

Seeing her brother and sister-in-law reconcile and the family crisis dissolved, the younger sister felt better than ever.

She went to the bathroom to wash her hands, grabbed her crossbody bag, and was about to head out: ”Brother and sister-in-law, I’m going to buy some groceries. Let’s cook a nice meal and eat quietly tonight!”

”Alright, go quickly!” Gu Shuangshuang said, ”Go and return soon!”

”Okay.”

Just as the younger sister was about to leave, Gu Shuangshuang shouted, ”Get a roast duck from the nearby Nanguofeng!”

”Oh, that won’t be necessary, sister-in-law!”
