Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1894: Chapter 1895: Try Your Luck

An Hao’s lunch was barely touched when Gu Shuangshuang stormed in.

Seeing Nannan lying on the hospital bed receiving an IV, her tears fell even before she spoke: ”How did the fever get so bad? I only went out to buy some vegetables... I’m so stupid, I can’t even take care of a child...”

”Shuangshuang, don’t get worked up!” Watching Gu Shuangshuang emotionally collapse, squatting on the ground crying like a child, An Hao also felt a pang of sorrow, ”It’s not your fault. Children’s constitutions vary in strength... When they get sick, their immunity actually strengthens.”

”Yes, sister-in-law! Don’t be like this!” An Hao’s younger sister said sadly.

Gu Shuangshuang realized she was overly emotional and had lost composure, so she took a few deep breaths to steady herself.

She held An Hao’s hand tightly and said, ”Once the child gets better, I want to take her to see Tian Niu.”

”I understand.” An Hao could deeply relate to Gu Shuangshuang’s mindset, as when people are vulnerable, they always seek the support of those closest to them.

”Sister-in-law, I’ll accompany you! For now, let’s take care of Nannan. No matter what difficulties arise, I’m here to support you.” An Hao’s younger sister said.

”Thank you, younger sister!” Gu Shuangshuang felt a sting in her nose, but her heart was warmed.

Hong Mei’s injury was almost healed, and she was already able to move freely.

During the bedridden period, though she couldn’t move, her mind was constantly wandering, and she learned quite a bit through various roundabout relationships.

The ordinance factory was located behind the hill of their Hexi Village in the abandoned armory.

Aside from the researchers, a battalion was deployed to maintain order around it.

All the warriors had to eat and sleep there.

They were allowed to go to the market twice a month, each time for no more than three hours, and they could not wear uniforms or talk about anything related to the military.

It seems that the discipline is very strict, making it difficult to meet Tian Niu.

Hong Mei thought for a long time and decided that the best chance to meet Tian Niu would likely be at the Hexi Village market.

Although the market is not big, it has everything you need to find.

On the market day, Hong Mei decided to try her luck.

She left early in the morning and arrived at the village entrance market, where the neighbor’s aunt had already set up her stall to sell dumplings. Seeing Hong Mei’s legs weren’t quite agile, she called her over to sit.

”Gan Tian, since you joined the military, you haven’t visited our village market, have you?” The aunt greeted her warmly.

”Yes, I miss these days a lot. Just sitting at the village entrance and watching everyone go back and forth makes me happy.” Hong Mei said.

”If you’re happy, sit a bit longer.”

”Aunt, you focus on your work. If you need help, just let me know,” Hong Mei said.

”Alright! No problem!” The aunt happily went back to her work.

Tian Niu came out from the military with several comrades and headed to the Hexi Village market, having not returned to see his wife and child for a long time, he was constantly thinking of them.

Carrying out this mission meant he couldn’t return for about a year and a half.

Tian Niu missed home a lot. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he bought some local specialties and wooden toys to send back.

He walked along, looking around, when suddenly he heard a familiar voice calling him: ”Captain Tian!”
