Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1834: Chapter 1833: Still better off dead

This woman’s toughness was not something he was seeing for the first time.

An Baoguo and Jiang Guixiang were also startled and stopped eating.

”An Hao, what are you doing?” An Shuchao looked at his daughter’s face. Seeing her solemn expression, he felt a bit uneasy.

”Settling accounts!” An Hao pulled over a chair and sat down once she had everyone’s attention, ”Here’s my plan, and I’m laying it out for you now. A lot of the debt has already been paid! The remaining money—you pay your own shares. The three of you have arms and legs; go out and do some work to repay the debt! If you can’t even do that, why should you freeload here, eat and drink for free, and expect others to pay your debts?”

”Dear niece! This debt waits for no one! If we can’t clear it soon, we’ll be hacked to death!” An Baoguo muttered about An Hao’s heartlessness even as he pleaded incessantly, ”Niece, show some mercy! We are family, and blood is thicker than water!”

”Yes, you must give us a way to live!” Jiang Guixiang put down her chopsticks angrily and said.

”Am I the one not giving you a way to live? Or is it you trying to drag us down?” An Hao had said enough and didn’t want to continue. She pointed to the knife on the table, ”If you really feel there’s no way out, that you’ve exhausted every option, and still can’t make it work, then just chop off both your arms with this knife. If you have the courage to do that, I’ll take care of you for the rest of your lives!”

”I... how can my body manage? I’m practically a dying man. Can you bear to see me struggling to earn money for survival in my final days?” An Baoguo suddenly started to cry, grabbing the kitchen knife from the table and bawling, ”Life is unbearable; it’s better to die! Death would bring peace! I’ll kill myself, and then kill my wife and children, so we won’t trouble my brother anymore.”

Seeing him pick up the knife, An Shuchao broke out in a cold sweat: ”Baoguo, Baoguo, what are you doing? Put the knife down!”

”No! I’d be better off dead!”

”Dad!”

”Old man! Don’t do this!”

Jiang Guixiang and An Hui both rushed over, trying to snatch the knife from An Baoguo’s hand.

They had enacted this drama numerous times, skillfully and seamlessly working together.

”If you want to die, do it outside. Don’t dirty our floor,” An Ping said disdainfully.

”Mind your words! That’s your second uncle!” An Shuchao felt for his brother, fearing Baoguo might really slit his own throat with the knife.

”Dad! Let go!” An Hao tightly gripped An Shuchao’s sleeve, ”He won’t die, and he doesn’t have the guts to! If he wanted to die, he would’ve already done it rather than wait till today!”

An Baoguo’s act ended once again, as throwing a fit and being shameless didn’t work with An Hao.

”Second Uncle, you’d better think about how to move forward! My dad agreed to help pay your debt because he still cares about brotherhood, but he’s no fool! And I won’t allow him to be one!” An Hao said firmly, word by word.

”We can’t repay it! Forty thousand—that’s an astronomical amount!” Jiang Guixiang started crying, wiping her tears with a pitiful expression, ”Besides, there’s not enough time, and they’re not allowing extensions!”

”Is that so? Can’t make it anymore? Haven’t you been robbing Peter to pay Paul all these years? You can keep using that method to drag it out a little longer now!” An Hao said.

Her goal was to drive them out and make them earn money through their own efforts.
