Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1809: Chapter 1808 Good News

An Hao was as busy as she could possibly be that day.

After attending Yan Ye and Lin Qiushu’s wedding, she was so tired that she could barely straighten her back.

By the evening, she had finally finished everything.

The newlyweds retired to their bridal chamber, and the Yan Family was swept up in a sea of joy. An Hao, however, was too exhausted to speak, unable to straighten her back any longer.

She lay down on the bed, closed her eyes, and tried to rest for a while.

Qin Jian pushed the door open and walked in. He took off his jacket, hung it on the coat rack, sat at the edge of the bed, and gently embraced An Hao. Biting her ear, he whispered, ”Wife, you are so beautiful today! I feel like I’ve been blessed with an angel descending to earth.”

Still keeping her eyes closed, An Hao smirked. ”You know what angels are? That’s rare.”

”You think I’m just a brute who only knows how to train soldiers and nothing else? Actually, I’ve even read Soviet novels! And ’The Count of Monte Cristo’ too!”

”The Count of Monte Cristo is a Soviet novel?” An Hao scoffed in amusement.

”You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?” Qin Jian placed his hand on her waist and gently tickled her, making her squirm uncontrollably. ”Stop it! I’m really tired today!” she pleaded.

”Let me give you a shoulder rub.” Seeing his wife was truly drained, Qin Jian stopped teasing her and started earnestly massaging her shoulders and legs.

His palms were dry and warm, with just the right amount of pressure. An Hao felt the soreness and fatigue in her body gradually melting away. In her drowsy state, she slowly drifted off to sleep.

Qin Jian continued massaging her for quite a while. When he realized she had fallen asleep, he gently pulled a blanket from the bedside and covered her. Then he climbed into bed himself, lying beside her with slow, careful movements, his gaze enamored as he took in the serenity of her sleeping face.

The phone on the bedside suddenly rang.

The shrill sound startled An Hao awake from her dream. She opened her bleary eyes, sat up, and saw Qin Jian sitting upright by the bed, answering the call.

She smiled, crawled over, and hugged him from behind, listening to the deep, rich notes of his voice emanating from his chest.

The call ended.

An Hao asked, ”Whose call was that? What’s going on?”

”Good news,” Qin Jian turned around, his eyes brimming with joy. ”Tian Niu just became a dad! Moments ago!”

”So soon?” An Hao exclaimed in delight. ”That’s earlier than expected!”

”Yeah. The guy was overjoyed, crying while he spoke over the phone.”

”The birth of new life!” An Hao raised her hand to stroke the sharp contours of Qin Jian’s face. ”Weren’t you in tears too when you first saw your own son?”

”Absolutely!” Qin Jian grabbed An Hao’s hand, holding it tightly in his palm. ”You almost gave your life to bring him into the world. How could I not be grateful? Or ecstatic?”

”Tian Niu must feel the same way.” The good news completely swept away An Hao’s fatigue. She let go of Qin Jian and got out of bed. ”Let’s go see Shuangshuang and the baby at the hospital.”

”You’re too tired today,” Qin Jian said lovingly, concerned for his wife. ”We can go tomorrow, and it’ll be just the same.”

”I’m not tired anymore. I think Shuangshuang will really want to see me right now!”

”Alright then.” Qin Jian smiled indulgently.

The couple made their way downstairs, where the two little ones were happily playing with their grandparents in the living room.

The two children, almost a year old, had already learned to walk. Wobbling around the table with unsteady steps, they looked just like a pair of clumsy little penguins.

Seeing An Hao come down from upstairs, the two kids eagerly ran toward her, competing with each other to be the first to dive into her arms.
