Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1763: Chapter 1762: You won’t blame me, will you?

When Lin Sheng woke up again, he found himself lying on a hospital bed.

Mu Mian was watching over him, and everyone else had already left.

”Mianmian...” Lin Sheng tried to turn over and sit up, but Mu Mian stopped him, ”Don’t move, you’re still hooked up to an IV!”

”What happened to me?” Lin Sheng raised a hand to rub his neck, which was painfully sore from the beating, ”Where are the police? The commander?”

”They all left!” Mu Mian gently stroked his head with her hand, looking at him with tender eyes, ”My sister cleared things up for you. She told the police that you and I went up the mountain to save her! The commander said you can’t return to the army. In your condition, you can’t go back. However, he found a place for you.”

”What place?” Lin Sheng asked.

”A rehabilitation center! Your addiction is too severe and must be controlled! There are professional detox facilities to help you kick the habit. After you detox, you can do whatever you want! The police won’t trouble us anymore. The commander vouched with his personal integrity that you absolutely wouldn’t deal drugs.” Mu Mian recounted the events that occurred after he fell unconscious.

Lin Sheng cried uncontrollably as she spoke.

”I’ve let the commander down! I’ve failed his expectations of me!” Lin Sheng cried heartbreakingly.

Mu Mian’s eyes reddened, and she gently wiped away his tears with her hand, ”He asked me to tell you that he can forgive you. But, he hopes that after you come out of the rehab center, you can start anew. Begin a new life with new hope!”

”Thank you, commander!” Lin Sheng couldn’t help but burst into tears.

Mu Mian threw herself at him, hugging him tightly, ”I’m sorry, Lin Sheng, it’s me who ruined your future! I’m sorry! But I promise to make it up to you for the rest of my life by marrying you!”

After a day’s journey, Qin Jian returned to the army with his squad.

It was already evening, and he didn’t have time to report to the regiment headquarters, so he just called Chief Zhang and briefly explained the situation.

Once Qin Jian finished his tasks, An Hao then went to drive home with him.

As the car approached the military compound, the closer they got to home, the more anxious An Hao became. She was a bit worried about how to face her in-laws and her son.

She had left in such a hurry back then, having Ji Chuan lie for her.

But later, after she knew Qin Jian was safe, she didn’t call home to assure them, worried that her in-laws would blame her once they knew the truth.

”What are you worried about?” Qin Jian noticed An Hao’s concern, holding her hand tightly, ”You seem so nervous, worried that Dad and Mom might eat you alive?”

”You don’t know, I thought you were seriously injured then, and I didn’t even notify the family before following the helicopter! Now, I’m worried...”

”What? Are you saying that when you came, the family knew nothing about this?” Qin Jian suddenly hit the brakes, stopping the car.

”Yes, yes. I was afraid the family would worry. I had Ji Chuan help me lie...” An Hao cautiously watched Qin Jian’s expression, ”You won’t blame me, right?”

Seeing how worried his wife was about him, what else could Qin Jian say?

He could only tightly hold An Hao in his arms, softly comforting her, ”Alright, alright. Don’t worry, I won’t blame you. After we go back, just explain it well to Mom and Dad, okay? I guess they must have been worried sick.”
