Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1724: Chapter 1723 This is a Coincidence

In the operating room, every second counts. Yan Ye and Dr. Lu worked together seamlessly, while An Hao observed and studied on the side, helping out with her assigned portion of the procedure.

The surgery lasted six hours straight. When it was finally over, An Hao stepped out of the operating room, rubbing her sore and numb shoulders, only to find the sky outside had already darkened.

Outside the operating room, Zhang Jianguo had been waiting the entire time. As soon as he saw the doctors come out, he rushed forward and asked, ”Dr. Yan, how did the surgery go? Is Qin Wu out of danger?”

Yan Ye took off his mask, revealing an exhausted face. Smiling, he replied, ”You don’t need to worry, Commander. The surgery went relatively well. The first forty-eight hours post-operation are critical. Once he passes this critical period, everything will be fine!”

”Then I must ask you experts to take good care of him during these forty-eight hours!” Zhang Jianguo said.

Yan Ye was momentarily stunned by the request and turned to look at Dr. Lu and An Hao. ”It seems we won’t be going back today after all!”

”Going back? Where to? The medical facilities here are far inferior to ours, and the standards aren’t even in the same league! So I sincerely ask you to stay. Qin Wu is an outstanding tank soldier! I can’t bear to see someone so young lose his life!” Zhang Jianguo cherished his subordinates dearly. This unexpected accident during the military exercise made him determined not to let his regiment commander die in vain.

”Commander, since this is your order, we’ll carry it out!” Yan Ye said with a smile. ”Rest assured, we won’t leave until he’s through the critical period!”

”That’s wonderful!” Zhang Jianguo gestured toward the people beside him and said, ”Make accommodation arrangements for these experts!”

”Understood!”

Before leaving, An Hao deliberately walked at the back of the group. As she passed by Zhang Jianguo, she paused and asked, ”Commander Zhang, may I ask about Qin Jian? Is he okay?”

Seeing An Hao’s slightly swollen eyes, Zhang Jianguo offered an apologetic smile. ”He’s fine; you don’t need to worry! This situation must have really scared you, right?”

”That’s right!” An Hao raised her hand to tuck her hair behind her ear and smiled. ”When I first heard the news, I was completely devastated. It felt as if my blood had frozen solid! You probably can’t imagine—I secretly cried all the way here on the plane.”

”It was a coincidence.” Zhang Jianguo explained to An Hao.

In this military exercise, there were two regiment commanders, both surnamed Qin. One of them was Qin Jian, who was widely renowned, so any mention of ”Commander Qin” would naturally refer to him.

The other commander was Qin Wu, currently lying in a hospital bed. He was the tank regiment commander, an excellent soldier who, like Qin Jian, had become a regiment commander at a very young age.

However, to avoid confusion, people would call Qin Jian ”Commander Qin,” while Qin Wu was referred to as ”Commander Wu.”

Because the hospital was unaware of this distinction, the mix-up occurred when they sought help from the PLA Affiliated Hospital in Nancheng City.

”No wonder!” An Hao felt much more relieved after hearing Qin Jian was fine. ”But I’m curious—why use live ammunition during a military exercise?”

”That was an accident. I can’t disclose too much about the specifics,” Zhang Jianguo said.

”When will the exercise be over?” An Hao wondered, thinking she might get a chance to see Qin Jian.
