Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1700: Chapter 1700: Not Everyone Has the Courage

“Look, this is a truly open-minded person!” Ji Chuan was about to applaud and cheer for Lin Qiushu.

“Qiushu, actually the risks are not the same. Teacher Yan hesitates for his reasons, and I think you should still be cautious. This is, after all, the first time the operation is to be performed, and there are too many uncertain factors during surgery. What if something happens…? I think even Teacher Yan is not certain,” An Hao laid out all the concerns before Lin Qiushu.

“I’ll discuss it with my grandmother and hear what she thinks. I hope you can accompany me to visit her,” Lin Qiushu seemed to have made up her mind.

“Alright, let’s go then,” said Ji Chuan, and left with Lin Qiushu leading the way.

An Hao hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly followed them.

In the ward, the old lady lay on the bed breathing oxygen, looking very weak from this recent episode, much worse than she had looked a short while ago.

Such a scene inevitably gave off the impression of the sun setting over the mountains.

Seeing this, An Hao felt a heavy heart, and her nose started to sting.

Upon seeing An Hao and Ji Chuan arrive, the old lady struggled to sit up, but An Hao stopped her: “Please don’t move, lying flat like this is better for your heart.”

The old lady nodded.

“Grandma, we are here to discuss the surgery with you,” Lin Qiushu said gently, holding her hand, “Your condition is very serious now, there is no other way besides surgery. So, not having surgery is absolutely not an option. Dr. Ji Chuan has brought two surgical options. Listen to them and then decide which one you prefer?” Lin Qiushu said.

“Okay.”

Ji Chuan leaned in and explained the pros and cons of the two surgical options to the old lady, as well as what might happen during and after the surgery. He then asked for the old lady to make a decision.

“Do I really have to do it?” the old lady asked, looking at Qiushu.

“Yes, you must! I promise you that Yan Ye and I will definitely get married. He has submitted a marriage report to his superiors, and then we will register for marriage. But, you must undergo surgery, and we can’t delay at all. Please make your choice!” If there was even a slightest hope of living, Lin Qiushu was willing to fight for it.

“Alright then. I choose the minimally invasive surgery,” the elderly lady said after weighing her options carefully and deciding on the latter choice.

“Why?” An Hao was stunned.

After all, this was a new thing, and not everyone could make such a choice like Lin Qiushu. She thought the old lady would be conservative in her choice given her age.

But unexpectedly, the old lady chose the minimally invasive option.

“I’ve lived enough in this life! The heavens have already been very merciful to me by letting me live this long; I am truly content. Since both surgeries carry risks, I might as well pick the new one. I have confidence in Yan Ye, and even if the surgery fails, that’s okay, at least I can be the first person in Yan Ye’s clinical trial. Let me be this test subject! When this surgery is perfected later on, it can help many other elderly people! This can also be considered a special wedding gift for my future grandson-in-law…”

“Grandma…” Lin Qiushu’s eyes welled up with tears.

An Hao’s nose tingled, and she nearly shed tears as well.

The old lady’s heart was set on her children, and even at this time, she did not forget to make a contribution for Yan Ye, something not everyone has the courage to do.
