Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1637: Chapter 1637: Participating in the Action

After dinner, Qin Jian finally got home. As soon as he entered, he took off his military cap and hung it on the coat rack.

With a child in her arms, An Hao came out to greet him: ”How did it go? Any progress today?”

”Yes.” Qin Jian took the child and sat down, kissed him, and playfully wiggled a finger before the little one’s eyes, ”The police have pinpointed Lin Qiushu’s location, and we can proceed with the rescue tonight.”

The anxiety An Hao had been carrying lifted, ”That’s great! At last, they found her. But, how is she? Is she okay?”

”That’s still unclear at the moment. The situation is quite complex, so the police didn’t rashly approach during the day; they just secured her location...”

”I really hope Qiushu is alright.”

”Don’t worry. We’ll have results tonight. Rest assured!”

”Mmm.” An Hao nodded solemnly, and seeing her husband’s tired face and dry lips, she said with concern, ”I’ll go get you a glass of water.”

”Okay.”

An Hao went to pour water, and Qin Jian lowered his head to make funny faces at the child.

The child began happily flailing his little arms, kicking Qin Jian’s waist with his tiny feet, but suddenly turned his mouth down and started crying.

”What’s wrong now?” He was puzzled.

”Wah...wah...” The child twisted and cried vehemently, growing more fierce, leaving Qin Jian utterly perplexed.

”What’s the matter?” An Hao came over with the hot water, saw Ning Chenguang crying fiercely, quickly set the water down and took the child from Qin Jian’s arms, ”How did you play with him? Did you scare him?”

”No.” Qin Jian was just as baffled, ”I was just playing with the child as I usually do.”

”Then why is he crying?”

”I don’t know. Is this little rascal recognizing only mom and not dad? Here, let me hold him again.” Qin Jian reached out to take the child from An Hao’s arms, but the child twisted away, refusing to go to him.

Just as the two were puzzling over the situation, Zhang Yun came back from next door at Feng Yuzhi’s house with Ning Chenyang in her arms, and seeing the child’s constant crying, she felt pity.

”Oh dear, two adults can’t handle one child. Send the child into the room, and go about your business.”

”No need, Mom! The child just doesn’t want him, that’s all. You’re already tired from caring for one child, let me take care of Chenguang,” An Hao said, taking the child back into her arms.

The child quieted down immediately.

The two went upstairs, An Hao placed Chenguang in the crib to play first, and she went to the cabinet to fetch pajamas for Qin Jian.

”Here. Take off your uniform, okay? Wear something more comfortable at home.”

”It’s not that necessary... In the unit, we’re fine just wearing a big vest with triple eyes.”

”This is home, change it...” An Hao spoke while helping to unbutton his jacket, and in the moment she removed his uniform, she saw the dark pistol holstered at his waist.

Her heart skipped a beat, then she asked, ”Why do you have this?” No wonder the child was fussing, because the pistol was jabbing the little one’s foot.

Seeing An Hao’s startled face turning pale, Qin Jian couldn’t help but laugh: ”Don’t be scared, I’m participating in a small operation tonight.”

”A small operation? Does that need a gun?” An Hao began to feel uneasy, ”Qin Jian, don’t hide it from me! I’m your wife, and even though knowing the truth will worry and scare me, I hope to know what I’m worried and scared about, and not be left in the dark, ignorant of everything.”
