Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1623: Chapter 1623: Not Only the Appearance, But Also Somewhat ... Similar

The Ning Family finally calmed down.

After lunch, Ning Yibin went to rest. Qin Jian went back upstairs to look after the children, leaving An Hao and Lin Qiushu some time alone.

Zhang Yun, who couldn’t sleep just after eating lunch, took some yarn and started to knit sweaters for the two children in the living room, preparing them for future use.

”How was it? Did you enjoy the lunch? How’s my cooking?” An Hao brewed a pot of tea for everyone to help with the post-meal greasiness.

”The taste is beyond reproach! Your cooking skills are really amazing! I must seriously learn from you later on, so that I won’t starve when I live on my own.” Lin Qiushu praised, ”I really do want to pull you into Nanguofeng to be my head chef. Your culinary skills are not ordinary at all!”

”Forget it. If I become your head chef, I bet all the customers at Nanguofeng would run off.”

”Not at all. I have already made plans for the future, just waiting to open in three months. By then, business at Nanguofeng will still be booming! When the time comes, I’ll invite you for a taste test!”

”That would be great. Your mind really does work wonders! With your help, we managed to deal with Guan Qing so well.” An Hao remarked.

”She brought it upon herself. No one else is to blame.”

”Yes, it’s a pity about that child.” While knitting the sweater, Zhang Yun chimed in, ”You don’t know; Guan Qing has always been a very competitive child.”

”Mom, did you know her when you were a child?”

”I saw her very seldom. I knew her mother, and speaking of Guan Qing’s mother, she was truly a beauty when she was young. Later, she passed away...”

”Auntie, speaking of beauties, you are a true beauty yourself.” Lin Qiushu’s flattery was delivered smoothly and pleasantly.

Hearing herself praised by the younger generation, Zhang Yun was so pleased she couldn’t keep her mouth shut: ”Just flatter me all you want! Now that I’m old, what beauty can be seen?”

”You must have been very beautiful when you were young. I can assert that! It was the Commander who had the vision to marry such a beauty.” Lin Qiushu made a light-hearted joke.

”Not at all beautiful. Our generation was very plain. I won’t hide it from you; back then, the color of the military uniform was exceptionally drab, nothing like the bright colors they are now.” Zhang Yun laughed, ”In our time, we didn’t have clothes with bright colors, very much inferior to your generation.”

”But... even though the clothes were plain, if the person is beautiful, that’s what counts, right? It’s precisely because the clothes were plain in that era that beauties were real beauties without the adornment of clothes!”

”Oh my! Look at how sweet Qiushu’s words are!” Zhang Yun laughed with all the wrinkles showing on her face, ”I really like you. If I had another son, I would definitely have him marry you. No way would I let Yan Ye benefit from this.”

”But you only have Qin Jian as a son...”

”Yes. Qin Jian’s wife is An Hao, and that’s something that will never change. As for a daughter-in-law, An Hao is the only one I acknowledge.” Zhang Yun couldn’t help feeling sentimental, ”You know? I feel that we really hit it off. I like you from the bottom of my heart!”

”I won’t hide it from you. I really like you too.” Lin Qiushu said earnestly, ”I think, you do bear some resemblance to my mother.”

”Really?”

”Really! Not only in appearance. Sometimes even your mannerisms are somewhat similar...” Lin Qiushu said.
