Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1527: Chapter 1527: Uncovering the Wolf’s Tail

Hen Zhiyuan thought about the predicament he was facing and hesitated for two seconds before agreeing, ”Alright.”

”Mm. That’s the spirit.” Guan Qing smiled, leaning her head on Hen Zhiyuan’s shoulder, ”Let’s go. Don’t worry about what’s happening right now! Perhaps if you take a different path, you may find yourself on a broad avenue.”

Hen Zhiyuan nodded his head.

A party of five left South Street and walked towards their car.

From the crowd, three figures emerged, watching the departing sedan with helpless sighs.

”I’m telling you, Yan Huan, even if you’re tailing someone, you should at least get a vehicle, right? Even if we don’t have a military car, we should at least get one that can drive straight, no? Do you expect us to chase a sedan with our bare feet?”

”Yeah. Sister Yan, you’re so hell-bent on stealthily stalking because of your first love, Commander Qin. What are we in it for?” The speaker was Yan Huan’s sworn sister, Pu Xiao.

Initially, to covertly investigate Hen Zhiyuan, they formed a ’Three Musketeers’, pulling in two decent friends to join in on the grand plan.

Luckily, their propaganda department wasn’t busy, and she, as a news officer, had nothing to do after digging up news all day.

The military leadership was relatively lenient and not as strict with female soldiers, allowing her to sneakily engage in some extracurricular activities.

”Of course, it’s for me,” responded Yan Huan when she heard Pu Xiao say this, shutting her down with a quick retort, ”What else? What did you think you were doing it for?”

”What’s in it for us if we do it for you?” asked Xiang Jun.

”Of course, it’s for our revolutionary feelings, to purify our revolutionary ranks! Look at this scum and villain; do you really want to watch him harm our troops, harm our commander openly? Can you honestly say that you maiden-hearted girls haven’t secretly fantasized about our tall, powerful, and handsome commander?”

”Oh, stop it! You’re making us blush!” Yan Huan’s comrades were getting red-faced from her words.

”Let’s go. If we keep blabbering, we’ll lose them.” Yan Huan took off running.

Seeing Yan Huan sprint away, Pu Xiao quickly chased after her, yelling as she ran, ”Yan Huan, do you think our two legs can outpace those four wheels?”

”Successful or not, we have to do it! We can’t catch up, but we still have to try!” Yan Huan ran, panting heavily, lamenting that you only realize you need more practice when it’s time to run.

If she’d known earlier, she would have trained harder regularly. Wouldn’t she have run faster if she’d practiced more?

They were both so exhausted they were nearly spitting blood when Xiang Jun arrived in a taxi.

After a few honks, Xiang Jun called out to Yan Huan, ”Sister Yan, get in the car!”

”Smart.” Yan Huan praised her.

The two of them hurriedly got into the taxi.

”Pu Xiao, you’re amazing.” After catching her breath, Xiang Jun gave Pu Xiao a thumbs-up, ”Our monthly stipend is so little, yet you’re willing to spend it on a taxi.”

”What are you worried about? It’s Sister Yan who’s paying anyway,” Xiang Jun said with a smile.

”Fine, I’ll pay. But you two better do a good job,” Yan Huan said.

”Don’t worry about it.”

Ten minutes later, the taxi followed Guan Qing’s sedan to a Disco Dance Hall.

In the mid-eighties, the first Disco Ballroom opened in Shanghai, and within a few short years, they started popping up all over the country.

When they arrived at the dance hall, Yan Huan stopped in her tracks and with a sweeping gesture said, ”Let’s go! Today, we must uncover whatever fox tail Hen Zhiyuan is hiding.”
