Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1510: Chapter 1510: I Want to Go Home to See My Wife

A company of scouts, disguised and dressed up, had infiltrated Dongshan Village. According to the orders from their superiors, they were to rescue Qin Jian and Tian Niu in the shortest possible time, using the most effective methods.

After two days of investigation, they arrived at this ancient house halfway up the hillside.

”If the intelligence provided is correct, this should be the last house. The regiment commander and the third battalion commander should be inside. Captain, what shall we do next?”

”Send one person to observe the situation first. Remember, don’t startle the snake. Wait until you come back, then we’ll make a decision,” said the captain of the scout company participating in the operation.

”Yes!”

Inside the courtyard.

Mu Mian, taking advantage of the good weather, took out the quilts covering Qin Jian and Tian Niu to air them, ensuring they would no longer be damp when it was time to cover them again.

Lin Sheng came in from the outside and saw Mu Mian airing the quilts. Just as he was about to speak to her, he heard Mu Mian say to him, ”The weather is very nice today. You go inside and help Brother Qin Jian and Brother Tian Niu out to bask in the sun.”

”Alright. Let’s put this matter aside for now. Mianmian, these past two days, I’ve noticed quite a few new faces in our village. You tell me, there are only a little over a hundred families in our Dongshan Village. We’re all neighbours and know each other well. But now, suddenly there are strangers among us.” Lin Sheng was somewhat worried, ”Could there be some kind of trouble from Uncle Mu’s side?”

”No. My dad wouldn’t be so reckless. Don’t worry.” Mu Mian was still trusting of her father on this point.

”Well... okay then. Since they’re not people brought by Uncle, let’s forget about it. Whoever else it is, it’s their business!” Lin Sheng said boldly.

Mu Mian pursed her lips in a smile, ”Alright, stop joking. Let’s take them out.”

Qin Jian and Tian Niu had been healing here for a while, and the local doctor had been looking after them. This doctor’s ancestors were physicians who specifically went up the mountain to gather herbs, picking over a hundred different medicinal plants, and then extracting their medicinal properties with heat.

Don’t underestimate this pitch-black medicinal paste; it was especially effective for bruises, bumps, and other injuries.

Qin Jian and Tian Niu had been using this black medicinal paste, and the wounds on their legs were healing particularly fast.

Lin Sheng went inside and led Qin Jian and Tian Niu out.

Stepping out of the house and seeing the long-missed sunshine, Qin Jian felt reborn.

At that moment, someone suddenly slid down from the level roof along the large tree by the house, startling everyone in the courtyard.

”Who are you?” Lin Sheng’s face darkened as he shielded Mu Mian behind him and grabbed a couple of wood-chopping axes from the base of the wall.

”Pfft. Do you think you’re Li Kui?” The person who had slid down from the tree laughed and glanced at Lin Sheng before turning and approaching Qin Jian.

”Scout company captain.” Qin Jian recognized him, and was somewhat surprised to see him here, ”Why are you here? Are you here for Tian Niu and me?”

”Yes, Commander. When the warriors in our regiment heard you weren’t gloriously injured, they cried their hearts out. Oh, and what about the sister-in-law? She’s been longing for you.”

”Yes. She’s been put through a lot,” Qin Jian said with a pained heart.

”And my Shuangshuang, I don’t know how she is doing,” Tian Niu couldn’t help but think of his wife as well.

”Let’s go, Commander. Sister-in-law has been waiting for you. If she knows I’ve brought you back, won’t she be over the moon?” the captain said.

”Let’s go! Right now!” Qin Jian clenched his teeth, ”I need to go back and see my wife.”
