Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1495: Chapter 1495: Which is More Important, Face or Life?

”So according to you, aren’t they being too bold?” Yan Ye was skeptical about the matter.

”Do you think? The reason you can say that is because you don’t understand what kind of woman Guan Qing is!” Yan Huan couldn’t help but marvel, ”Her audacity absolutely exceeds your imagination. You know, a businesswoman, especially a strong one, must have some tricks up her sleeve.”

Remembering Guan Qing’s personality, Yan Ye was somewhat convinced.

”Not to mention anything else, just look at the daughter she raised. Don’t you know her? Guan Kexin hasn’t stopped pestering you to marry her!” Yan Huan said while laughing involuntarily, ”If you really married Guan Kexin, you’d be Guan Qing’s son-in-law by now. When the old mother-in-law’s lover runs into trouble, I’d like to see which side you’d lean towards.”

Yan Ye glanced at Yan Huan, ”Stop babbling. Get to the point, what else do you know?”

”I also know that Guan Qing had dealings with that gangster from South Street, Wang Jiu. So, you’d better be more careful. Perhaps, you might dig up a big piece of news.”

”The information you provided is quite valuable. Why didn’t you mention it earlier?” He had wasted so much time.

”If it weren’t for this matter, why would I bring it up? I have no old grudges or recent hatreds with them. Why would I go after them for no reason? Isn’t that just looking for trouble?” It was all to help An Hao.

It was also to seek justice for the late Qin Jian.

”That makes sense,” Yan Ye nodded. ”Since it’s to help An Hao, let’s help all the way. Keep an eye out on your end too. Since we’re striking at Zhiyuan, we should hit hard.”

”Agreed.”

”But, think it through. General Guan was also good to you when you were a kid. If you pull on this thread to target Zhiyuan, aren’t you afraid of causing General Guan to lose face?” Yan Huan kindly reminded him.

”Which is more important, face or two human lives? Such a person is a scourge and must be kicked out of the unit,” Yan Ye clenched his fists, ”I can’t tolerate betrayal for personal gain, and what Zhiyuan sold was his teammates’ lives.”

”Can you confirm that Qin Jian’s ’honor’ was related to him? Did he actually take action?”

”I’m certain.” He believed a child who had survived a calamity wouldn’t lie. He believed the fury and sorrow that shone in the eyes of the young brothers.

”Good. Then let’s work together to help An Hao.” Yan Huan also made up her mind.

The siblings talked at the door for quite a while—Yan Ye was extremely tired, yawning repeatedly.

Seeing her brother so weary, Yan Huan felt sorry for him and volunteered to take care of the packing, ”Come on. Seeing you this tired, I’ll show some mercy—bring over your luggage and I’ll wash your dirty clothes.”

”Thank you,” Yan Ye said unceremoniously, tossing the bag to Yan Huan before slamming the door shut with a bang.

Yan Huan, holding the luggage and seeing the pile of bloody white coats, felt nauseated instantly. She hated dealing with bloody items the most. She decided not to wash them today and wait until tomorrow.

Thus, she tossed the luggage bag into a corner of her room and went about her business.
