Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1379: Chapter 1379: The Due Date is Approaching

”Did the doctor mention the due date?” Qin Jian asked.

”The due date is next month. But after the last check-up, the doctor said it’s not likely to wait that long, and it’s expected to happen this week.” An Hao could also feel that her belly had started to drop.

The birth wasn’t far away.

”We’ve finally waited for them. Have you picked out a name for the baby?” Qin Jian asked, his heart swelling with emotion.

”Not yet. Let’s leave it to the baby’s grandfather to pick the name! There’s no hurry now; after the baby is born and we see the gender, it’s not too late to marry again.”

”Alright. Whatever you say.” Qin Jian spoke softly and melodiously.

An Hao smiled and tightly gripped his hand, ”You’re always so good to me...”

”I guess I probably owed you something in my past life,” Qin Jian said casually.

”No. It’s me who owed you. In this life, I need to make it up to you...” Of course, it would have been better if, in their previous life, he hadn’t married Song Yueqin after they divorced.

That way, her heart might feel even sweeter.

Love is selfish.

She was no exception. Once she realized she was wholeheartedly in love with a man, she couldn’t help but want his undivided attention.

And furthermore, she hoped he would be hers and only hers forever.

Even though, in the past life, it was her fault that led to the bitter outcome, and it wasn’t fair to blame Qin Jian for remarrying.

But for some reason, there was still a little knot in her heart that couldn’t be untied...

”Yikes, all this ’you owe me, I owe you’ talk. You two are so cheesy it’s unbearable,” Yan Huan’s voice carried over from a distance.

An Hao quickly turned her head to see her standing there with both hands coolly in her pockets, watching them.

”You’re spying,” An Hao said, a bit embarrassed by the teasing.

”If you weren’t out here in broad daylight, being so lovey-dovey with each other, how could I have seen it?” Yan Huan said with a suggestive smile, ”Some women have all the luck being doted on.”

”Jealous, are you? If you’re envious, hurry up and find a man to...dote on...and cherish you. Why stand around spying and talking such sour grapes?” An Hao retorted sarcastically.

”Yan Huan, my wife is right. You really should find yourself a man,” Qin Jian agreed.

”You... you guys are bullies,” Yan Huan frowned slightly, looking at Qin Jian, ”Group Leader Qin, you’ve changed for the worse since marrying An Hao. Plus, your skin’s gotten thicker.”

”You’re wrong,” Yan Ye returned with a bag in his hand and stopped in his tracks on the path, ”Qin Jian has always had a thick skin. He just keeps it well hidden.”

”Nonsense. You always take An Hao’s side.”

”I think it’s your logic that’s skewed...”

”Don’t be ridiculous, is your heart positioned right in the middle? And you call yourself a doctor...”

The brother and sister, rarely together, started their usual bickering.

The sunlight gradually shifted, the light of day began to fade, and Qin Jian stood up, extending his hand to An Hao: ”Let’s go, let’s go home.”

An Hao held his hand tightly, nodding with a smile, ”Make sure you hold tight, don’t let go, never loosen your grip.”

.........................

The next day, as previously scheduled, An Hao went for her final prenatal check-up.

Early in the morning, Qin Jian drove her in the jeep to the military district’s general hospital. It was close to their home and convenient, and An Hao’s first choice for giving birth.
