Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1318: Chapter 1318: Have to Acknowledge Even If Unwilling

An Ping’s heart skipped a beat upon hearing this, but he still put on a smile and welcomed the factory manager inside, ”Please come in and take a seat, Manager. You must be thirsty after coming all this way. Have some water first!”

”No need, no need!” the factory manager waved his hand in refusal, ”The hail a few days ago caused many vegetable suppliers to have shortages! My factory workers are getting restless, complaining about not having vegetables. I was worried that your family might also be unable to supply, so I came to check the vegetable garden. If the vegetables are growing well, I’ll be relieved and can provide an explanation to the workers.”

”Everything’s fine! Everything’s fine! Don’t worry, no matter what, we must make sure the workers have their vegetables, right?” An Ping said with a chuckle.

”Can you guarantee that?” the factory manager asked.

”Of course, I give you my word,” An Ping replied, patting his chest.

”Can you guarantee it’s vegetables from your An Family garden?” the factory manager asked again.

This question stumped An Ping.

When they went to collect the vegetables, An Hao had discussed with him the issues in the contract.

An Hao had mentioned that the contract was problematic, and it would be fine as long as there were no troubles, but once troubles arose, all the responsibility would fall on the garden.

Now, trouble had indeed arisen.

”Look, your factory is short on vegetables, and I happen to supply them...”

”So, these aren’t from your An Family garden, right?” the factory manager asked with a smile.

”This...” An Ping was truly at a loss for words.

”Since they’re not from your An Family garden, I don’t need them anymore. According to the contract, you owe me compensation now...” the factory manager said as he handed the contract to An Ping.

”How come there’s such a thing? I wasn’t aware of this!” At this point, An Ping had no other choice but to stall for time.

”Come on, Mr. An, don’t play dumb. It’s in black and white, signed with your name. Whether you acknowledge it or not, you have to,” the factory manager said with a grin.

Now An Ping understood that the factory manager had come to demand money.

He was asking for three times the penalty fee, and this was indeed a windfall for him.

Using this money to buy vegetables from someone else’s garden wouldn’t cost much.

He was clearly making a profit without a loss.

Just as An Ping was at a loss, An Hao heard the noise in the courtyard and walked out, her belly protruding.

”What’s going on, An Ping?”

”Sister, they don’t want the vegetables anymore. They’re demanding a penalty fee now. What should we do?” An Ping said, troubled.

”Give them whatever they want,” An Hao said calmly.

”Sister, it’s tens of thousands!” An Ping said, feeling the pinch.

This indeed added insult to injury; when would they ever recover?

”However it’s written in the contract, that’s how we’ll handle it!”

The factory manager, hearing this, was pleased, ”You really are straightforward! Doing business with you is truly satisfying.”

An Hao smiled coolly, pointed towards the gate, and said to the factory manager, ”You can go now. I’ll bring you the money tomorrow.”

Knowing An Hao was showing him out, the factory manager said, ”Should we confirm the amount of the compensation?”

”Confirm what? Aside from those two thousand yuan, I’ll compensate you with triple the rest!”

”That doesn’t seem right. Technically, since this mess wasn’t started by your An Family, you should still compensate me,” the factory manager said, his greed apparent. He wished to make money off the situation, letting An Hao foot the bill.

”Then, I must ask, Mr. Manager, which eye of yours saw that these vegetables weren’t produced by our An Family garden?” An Hao retorted.
