Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1301: Chapter 1391: Wait for Me Two Years

”Don’t!” Cheng Yue exclaimed with a surge of emotion, seizing Yan Huan’s hand, ”I’ve thought it over, and I feel like I’d regret missing out on you for a lifetime. So, please, can we not rush me to make a decision right now?”

Yan Huan’s brows furrowed tightly. ”Cheng Yue, if I remember correctly, we’ve only had a few brief encounters! And, these encounters haven’t exactly been wonderful.”

”I know. Fate is just so strange! Despite that, it has left a mark on my heart! I don’t know why I like you, but once I like someone, that’s just how it is.” Cheng Yue confessed to Yan Huan for the first time while he was sober.

”So what do you want?” Yan Huan asked, looking at Cheng Yue.

”Could you wait for me for two years? Wait until I graduate. By then, two years will have passed, the pain of my sister’s departure will have faded a bit in my parents’ hearts, and it will be easier to bring up this matter to them. By that time, they will agree more readily,” Cheng Yue said earnestly to Yan Huan.

If his sister Cheng Yu were still around, he would have been able to act impulsively—if his parents disagreed, he could simply run away, leave... and refuse to come back!

But now, things are different.

His sister’s death practically turned his father, Cheng Nanfang, white overnight.

He had witnessed that sorrow with his own eyes—it was as if he felt their pain! Therefore, with his parents still engulfed by the shadow of his sister’s passing, he couldn’t bear to wound their hearts further at this time.

”Okay. I promise you,” Yan Huan agreed to Cheng Yue’s request without a second thought.

”Really?” Cheng Yue’s eyes lit up, and his previously heavy heart suddenly felt a burst of relief. He hadn’t expected Yan Huan to agree so readily to his request.

Cheng Yue knew the decision wasn’t easy!

After all, Yan Huan would have to wait for him for two years.

Two years from now, who knew what the situation would be? He hadn’t made any promises to Yan Huan, and yet she had agreed just like that!

Cheng Yue silently made a decision in his heart; he had to find a perfect solution within these two years.

One that wouldn’t sadden Yan Huan, nor upset his parents.

”When have I, Yan Huan, ever spoken untruths! Since I’ve promised, it’s a promise! There’s absolutely no way I’d go back on it!” Yan Huan declared.

”Thank you for trusting me!” With that, Cheng Yue stepped forward, pulled Yan Huan into his embrace, and held her tightly, lowering his head to kiss her.

............

On the way back, Yan Huan’s cheeks were burning, her mind wandering frequently.

Truth be told, living to her late twenties, it was her first taste of a kiss.

An Hao spoke to her for quite a long time, but when she received no response, she turned her head to see Yan Huan’s blushing face with two prominent peach blossoms on her cheeks, and she knew things were looking up.

Since Yan Huan was surprisingly decisive in matters of the heart for once, An Hao decided to let her bask in her happiness.

So An Hao simply stopped talking, and the two of them walked back to the military compound in silence.

After saying goodbye to An Hao, Yan Huan went straight home.

As soon as she entered the house, Feng Yuzhi was sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper with reading glasses. Upon seeing Yan Huan’s return, she closed the newspaper and asked, ”How did it go? Did you meet him?”

”Yes, I did,” Yan Huan replied with a joyful smile on her face.

Seeing the joy on Yan Huan’s face, Feng Yuzhi sensed that things were promising and quickly beckoned Yan Huan to come over and sit down. ”Come on, tell me! Will Xiaocheng be staying in Nancheng from now on?”

Yan Huan shook her head. ”He can’t make a decision right now! We have to wait until he graduates! We’ll talk about it again in two years!”
