Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1256: Chapter 1256: Staying Highly Alert

An Hao heard someone talking to her and turned her head around to see, and as she turned, her eyes met those of the woman. She had a smile on her lips and a gentle demeanor, radiating amiable and friendly signals all over.

At a glance, An Hao recognized that this woman was no one else but the woman she had encountered in the Jade Store that day.

”It’s you again?” An Hao frowned, this woman’s background was unclear, and she had even stealthily followed her before.

Subconsciously, An Hao wanted to put some distance between them.

”Yes! Seems like we have some fate!” the woman laughed cheerfully and extended her hand, ”Lin Qiushu.”

An Hao didn’t reach out to shake her hand; after all, a stranger met by chance, first following her and then actively approaching her with friendly intentions, was strange enough in itself.

As the saying goes, those who offer unsolicited help are up to no good or after theft!

Who knows what she is thinking or what her intentions are? In her lifetime, she didn’t want to meet another woman like Cheng Yu!

Seeing An Hao’s wariness, Lin Qiushu felt she may have been too brash. So, she retracted her hand with a smile and said to An Hao, ”I’m very sorry, I might have been too abrupt and scared you! I have no other intentions, I just saw your jade bracelet at the Jade Store the first time and felt it was of excellent quality. I’m someone who really likes jade and just wanted to take a closer look. I harbor no ill will towards you or your belongings.”

An Hao showed a faint smile, ”I’m someone who has a rather indifferent nature and only likes to socialize with people I’m familiar with. I have no other intentions towards you.”

Lin Qiushu immediately picked up on the underlying message from An Hao; she was telling her that she didn’t want to bother with her and had no intention of getting to know her.

”I’m really sorry, I indeed was too forward,” Lin Qiushu apologized again to An Hao and then turned to leave, but after a few steps, she stopped and turned to An Hao, ”Choose the one on the left. Trust me, I tasted all the wines on the market as soon as I came back. Real experience tells me that the one on the left tastes a bit better.”

After speaking, she took a bottle of red wine from the shelf and left.

By then, Qin Jian had made his choice of spirits, and the wine salesman who had come over with him.

”Comrade, have you chosen the red wine yet?”

An Hao put down the red wine in her right hand and handed the one in her left to the salesman, ”Just this one.”

”Okay. The spirits and the red wine together total one hundred and twenty-five yuan.” The salesman shuffled the abacus casually and calculated the price.

”Pack them up,” said Qin Jian as he reached into his pocket for the money.

An Hao looked around the wine sale area and said, ”I remember this place didn’t used to be like this; customers couldn’t come in and pick out the wine on their own. You had to buy it across a long counter. Why has it changed to this now?”

This sales model was nearly the same as the supermarkets decades later. There were also supermarkets in China now, but they were so few as to be almost negligible. In a society where information was not so freely and well-developed, not many people would know much about this business model.

The appearance of this supermarket-like alcohol sales area inside a store was quite a surprise to An Hao.

The salesman said with a smile, ”We’re not clear on the details, it’s said to be invested in by a boss who came back from overseas. Letting people get a close look at the products!”

”That boss is quite visionary,” mused An Hao.

”You think this is good?” the salesman shook his head, ”We don’t think so, it’s so much trouble! Always worried if we can’t watch the goods carefully for the boss, what if we lose something?”.
