Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1238: Chapter 1338: A Woman Adorns Herself for the One Who Pleases Her

It was then that An Hao noticed Yan Huan had shed her military attire for a trench coat and jeans, her feet shod in a pair of black leather shoes, and her face made up, looking just like a modern lady stepped straight out of a calendar.

”They say women dress to please themselves, and it really is true,” An Hao teased her with a smile.

”Don’t make fun of me. When you and Qin Jian were dating, you dressed up way prettier than me,” Yan Huan pouted and said, ”I was quite jealous of you back then.”

”You’re brave to admit it. Rare for you to tell me the truth. Actually, even if you didn’t say it, I could tell,” An Hao laughed.

”You two start bickering as soon as you meet. Let’s go quickly, it’s getting late,” Zhang Yun couldn’t help but urge them to leave and repeatedly reminded Yan Huan, ”You must take good care of An Hao!”

”Don’t worry, Auntie! I’ll make sure to bring your family of three back safe and sound,” Yan Huan assured her, patting her chest.

During the eighties and nineties, many people did not have the habit of regular prenatal check-ups. Generally, once pregnant, one would just rest up for ten months, and then give birth to the child.

However, being medically trained and having lived a lifetime more than others, An Hao knew the importance of prenatal care. Carrying twins in her belly, she decided on regular check-ups to ensure the fetus’s development was normal.

Yan Huan accompanied An Hao to the obstetrics and gynecology department, where the doctor measured An Hao’s blood pressure, fundal height, and handed her a form to get an ultrasound to check the fetal heart development.

An Hao, holding the form, went to the ultrasound room. Since it wasn’t busy this time, she decided to queue up and told Yan Huan to go directly to the emergency department to find Cheng Yue, saying she would wait for her there.

Yan Huan agreed, feeling she and Cheng Yue needed another talk, to see if there was any chance of turning Cheng Yue’s thoughts around. Preferable to the passive acceptance of an ordinary girl, she liked to take the initiative.

She still liked the feeling of being in control of everything.

Unfortunately, when she arrived at the emergency department, Cheng Yue had left with the ambulance to pick up a patient, and it was unknown how long he would be. She felt uncomfortable asking An Hao to wait with her, so she decided to leave and go back to find An Hao.

As she arrived at the entrance of the obstetrics clinic, An Hao had just come out.

”How is it?” Yan Huan asked her.

”The baby is doing well,” An Hao replied, slipping the ultrasound results into her bag and casually inquiring about Yan Huan’s situation.

”He wasn’t there, went out on an emergency,” Yan Huan said with a hint of regret, ”I won’t wait for him today. We’ll talk next time. Let’s go, let’s head home.”

”Okay.”

The two women went down a floor, and An Hao felt the urge to urinate, so she told Yan Huan she was going to the restroom.

Just as she reached the restroom at the end of the corridor, a man with his face well covered emerged from the men’s room and bumped into An Hao, causing her to stagger.

An Hao was startled and instinctively protected her lower abdomen, taking a couple of quick steps before she could steady herself.

But the man didn’t offer a single word of apology and kept his head down, hurrying to leave.

”Hey, do you have no manners? Bumping into someone without even saying sorry,” An Hao said indignantly.

Hearing her voice, the man stopped, turned back, and removed the headscarf covering his head to reveal his face.
