Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1233: Chapter 1333: Losing Face All the Way to Grandma’s House

Cheng Yue sat at the dining table, his gaze unnaturally sweeping over everyone present.

Seeing each of them smiling at him, Cheng Yue felt chills running down his spine for no apparent reason.

”Uncle, Aunt, Yan Huan, Teacher Yan... I acted disgracefully last night, I embarrassed myself...” Cheng Yue said reluctantly, hanging his head.

”Pfft!” Yan Huan scoffed with a laugh, ”You did more than just embarrass yourself, you embarrassed us all the way to grandma’s house!”

”Do you know you threw up in our house last night? The smell took a whole night to air out completely after opening the windows.” Feng Yuzhi began to speak, instinctively wanting to cover her nose.

”Hehehe!” Cheng Yue gave a dry laugh. ”I drank too much yesterday, I couldn’t control myself!”

”It’s not entirely your fault!” Yan Huan said, her face heating up as she remembered the scene of him trying to kiss her last night.

”It’s my fault, all my fault!” Cheng Yue thought of last night’s scene and wanted to slap himself hard.

Originally, he had come to tell Yan Huan that if she liked him, she should just kill that idea and give up on him!

He would never leave Jiangning City to settle down in Nancheng.

Unless Yan Huan would go with him!

How did it turn into him trying to kiss Yan Huan before he could say anything else...

”Let’s not beat around the bush since we’re all family. No one is to blame, let’s just eat!” Yan Luquan was clearly very satisfied with this young man.

Considering Yan Huan was nearly thirty and had found a guy in his early twenties, that was a huge win.

Now that he knew the background and origins of this young man, Cheng Nanfang’s son, he felt pretty confident about him!

When Cheng Yue came out of the house, he was initially apprehensive, worried that the Yan family might bring up last night’s incident again.

Seeing that they didn’t mention it, Cheng Yue finally breathed a sigh of relief. Since he hadn’t gotten the chance to talk last night, maybe he should have a proper discussion with Yan Huan about it after breakfast when he leaves!

Thinking this, Cheng Yue felt much calmer.

After throwing up everything in his stomach last night, now there was not a single grain of food in his stomach, and he was hungry. He picked up the bowl in front of him and took a sip of the fragrant millet porridge.

Just as he took a mouthful, he heard Feng Yuzhi ask, ”Xiaocheng, when do you plan to come and ask for Yan Huan’s hand in marriage?”

”Pfft...” Cheng Yue choked, spraying out a mouthful of porridge as he started coughing violently, ”Cough, cough, cough...”

”Mom! What are you even talking about?” Yan Huan became anxious seeing her mother so eager, ”He came over last night, and he didn’t even know what he wanted to say, and you are already talking about marriage proposals...”

”After last night, doesn’t that mean Xiaocheng is interested in you? You’re not getting any younger. Since you two like each other and are compatible, just get married! Do you really want to wait until you’re thirty and become an old maid before getting married? Do you want people to laugh their heads off?” Feng Yuzhi seized the opportunity and went on a tirade against Yan Huan.

”What are you talking about? Mom, please stay out of this, okay?” Yan Huan was anxious. Why did her mom have to meddle in everything?

”Well, since we’re already discussing this, we’d like to hear your opinions. Xiaocheng, you start.” Yan Luquan spoke up.

Ah! There was no avoiding it after all!

But, it was better to clarify things sooner rather than later!

So, Cheng Yue asked Yan Huan, ”If we end up together in the future, would you be willing to leave Nancheng and follow me to Jiangning?”
