Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1217: Chapter 1217: Present the Evidence

Having left the military compound, Ji Chuan and Yan Ye felt very heavy-hearted.

Without strong evidence, the hospital clearly would not believe An Hao’s side of the story.

The current situation had already become extremely dire for An Hao.

But there was no choice, even so, they had to give it a try.

They couldn’t just watch such a promising young talent be ruined, knowing full well that training a surgeon in the hospital was no easy feat.

The next day at work, Yan Ye directly called Ma Mei into his office.

He decided to have a talk with Ma Mei.

Although he felt the chance was slim, that Ma Mei would not reveal the truth of the matter, he decided to still give it a try.

These past few days had not been easy for Ma Mei either, some matters weighed on her like a boulder, making it hard for her to breathe.

She was constantly worried that something unexpected might occur, and if any part of the process went wrong and it turned out she was the one who removed the syringe, then things would really become complicated.

Therefore, standing in front of Yan Ye, she was nervous and uneasy.

”Director Yan, you wanted to see me?”

Yan Ye glanced at Ma Mei indifferently, lifted his chin, and motioned for her to sit.

”Regarding the issue with the surgery, do you have anything to say?”

Ma Mei said with a somewhat unnatural expression, ”There were no problems during the procedure I led. As for why the patient fell into a coma, that should be An Hao’s fault! It was her carelessness in pulling the wrong syringe! So, Director Yan, you should be asking her, not me.”

”But someone saw you, saw you directly pulling out the syringe! She witnessed the whole process with her own eyes,” Yan Ye said bluntly.

Ma Mei was startled, her heart skipping a beat, ”Who? Who saw it?”

”So, you admit you did this?” Yan Ye caught the panic in her expression.

”You’re framing me, Director Yan.” After a brief moment of panic, Ma Mei quickly realized something—Yan Ye couldn’t be sure it was her.

He was just trying to trick her into confessing the truth, and she had almost fallen for it.

”Whether I’m framing you or not, don’t you know best? Letting someone else take the blame for what you did, yet you remain silent. As a doctor, you are not qualified. As a military doctor, you are even less worthy,” Yan Ye said sharply.

He deeply despised Ma Mei’s behavior and actions.

Such a person did not deserve his respect.

”Director Yan, without proof, you cannot just accuse me. If you bring the evidence in front of me, I will confess without a word. But if there’s no evidence, please don’t falsely accuse me.” With these words, she stood up from her chair, turned around, and left the office.

When she exited, she slammed the office door behind her, making a loud noise.

Not long after Ma Mei was questioned by Yan Ye, news spread.

Everyone knew Ma Mei was being investigated as she was questioned by Director Yan.

Privately, people began to speculate about the matter.

”Doctor Ma seems to have suspicion too. Otherwise, why would Director Yan call her into his office?”

”I don’t know, really.”

”She must be under suspicion, otherwise why wouldn’t he call any of us who were also part of the surgery?”

”That makes sense. But would Doctor Ma make such a mistake?”
