Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1144: Chapter 1144: There’s no hurry to deal with you after October.

Thinking about how Qin Jian deliberately teased her tonight, An Hao also curled her lips into a smile and said, ”Yeah! So what?”

Qin Jian gritted his teeth, ”Careful, or I might not be able to resist taking care of you!”

An Hao put on an indifferent face and gently patted her own belly, ”If you want to murder your child, feel free to do so at any time.”

”Getting back at me?” Qin Jian realized.

”Right,” An Hao admitted, ”Exactly! It’s called ’an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.’”

”Fine! I’ll patiently wait. After ten months, it won’t be too late to deal with you!”

”Sure! I’ll be waiting for you!”

..................

Qin Jian, as a candidate for regiment commander, was recommended.

Suddenly, everyone in the regiment knew that the next commander would be the current Chief of Staff.

Everything changed too fast, the situation that was once unfavorable for Qin Jian turned around.

His dreams of promotion were completely shattered.

After work, Hen Zhiyuan had just reached the entrance of the family residential area.

From afar, he saw Guan Qing, dressed in a black coat, with neatly cut short hair and exquisite makeup on her face. She stood there, seemingly waiting for someone.

Hen Zhiyuan approached her and stopped in front of her, ”Are you waiting for someone?”

Guan Qing nodded, ”Yes.”

”For who?”

”For you! I don’t know if you’d do me the honor of sitting together,” Guan Qing said, a gleam of amusement twinkling in her eyes.

”Sure,” Hen Zhiyuan agreed. Tonight Ma Mei had surgery and would return very late, Ruan Fangfang was fully committed to her General Surgery internship these days and wouldn’t come back early either, and he was the only one at home, ”Just wait a moment, my folks sent over some dried pickled tofu. The chief loves it; I’ll go get it for him.”

”Who said I was going back home?” Guan Qing said with a slight smile, ”Let’s go out.”

”Where to?” Hen Zhiyuan asked.

”You’ll know when we get there. Go up and change into casual clothes, I’ll wait for you downstairs,” Guan Qing said.

A few minutes later, Hen Zhiyuan, now in casual attire, came downstairs.

Guan Qing’s gaze swept over him twice and with satisfaction retracted, ”Get in the car!”

Hen Zhiyuan was very surprised upon seeing Guan Qing’s car, ”Is this yours? It must cost a pretty penny.”

”Yes!” Guan Qing proudly stated, ”Bought entirely with the money I earned.”

”You’re incredible! A real powerwoman!” Hen Zhiyuan couldn’t help but admire, ”I only heard from Commander Guan that your business was doing well, I had no idea you were this successful.”

Guan Qing smiled gracefully, turned her head to Hen Zhiyuan, and said, ”You guys are always in uniform, soaking in the army, completely oblivious to the outside world! In fact, once you take off that uniform, there’s a more exciting world out there.”

Hen Zhiyuan simply smiled and said nothing.

The car stopped in front of a café, and Guan Qing led Hen Zhiyuan inside.

They chose a corner seat and sat down; Guan Qing ordered two cups of coffee with sugar.

While waiting for the coffee, Hen Zhiyuan looked around at his environment.

The café’s décor was very upscale, and the patrons seemed very respectable; when they talked, it was all hushed whispers, one table’s conversation not interrupting another’s.

”How do you like this place? Is it more comfortable than where you’re stationed?” Guan Qing asked.

”It’s okay.”

Guan Qing smiled faintly, coffee arrived, and she gently sipped it,

Asking about his recent situation. ”I heard about the promotion to regiment commander...”

She had barely begun speaking when Hen Zhiyuan cut her off, ”It’s not me. The chief was right; I was overreaching. After serving in the army for a while, I plan to leave the service and return to civilian life.”
