Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1114: Chapter 1114: The Impact on Your Assessment Impression

”How are you going to wrap up this mass diarrhea incident? Just be thankful no one died from it!” Zhang Jianguo paced back and forth in his office with his hands behind his back, feeling extremely agitated. ”Is that brother-in-law of yours reliable at all?”

Qin Jian’s expression was grave as he looked at Zhang Jianguo, ”Are you sure it was vegetable poisoning? What about meat, fish, and eggs? Could there be a problem with any of those? I suggest we thoroughly investigate and get to the root of the problem. If it really is my brother-in-law’s fault, I will show no mercy in dealing with this matter.”

”We’ve started an investigation. But have you thought about something? The timing of this incident is particularly bad, as it could affect the impressions of the division headquarters on your review.” Zhang Jianguo was very worried about this issue.

”No!” Qin Jian said truthfully, ”I don’t think this incident will have much impact on me. An Ping had gone through the logistics department’s assessment when he first joined the army, and everything was done step by step according to the regulations and procedures, in line with our army’s procurement process. There’s been no favoritism.”

”That’s easy to say. But people’s words can be dreadful. How can you guarantee others will think the same?” Zhang Jianguo sighed deeply, valuing Qin Jian as a talent.

If his future were to be ruined over this, it would be a great loss indeed.

”I believe the organization will provide a fair answer.” In this matter, he had conducted himself with integrity, and there was no issue of using power for personal gain or engaging in corruption.

If the vegetables from An Ping truly were the problem, it would only be an issue between the army’s logistics and An Ping.

It shouldn’t involve him as a third party.

”Alright! It’s getting late, you should head back.” This matter wouldn’t be resolved anytime soon, and for now, the troop’s mood was still stable.

Hopefully, it won’t continue to ferment.

Tomorrow, it would be necessary to call a meeting with our leaders to reassure the soldiers and report the latest investigation results.

..................

By the time Qin Jian got home, dinner had already been eaten.

An Ping and his friends had been conducting investigations for several days in a row, exhausted, they had an early dinner and went to rest at the guesthouse.

Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun had gone out for a walk.

At home, only An Hao was sitting on the sofa watching TV. The TV was on, but she had fallen asleep on the sofa.

Qin Jian turned off the TV, bent down to pick up An Hao, and was ready to go upstairs when she slowly opened her eyes.

”You’re back?” An Hao’s face was sleep-befuddled.

These days she had been very sleepy, alternating between eating and sleeping, feeling as if she was putting on weight.

”You should sleep in bed if you’re tired. It must be so uncomfortable to curl up like this. Our child would protest,” Qin Jian said tenderly as he caressed her long hair, his gaze falling on her flat stomach.

”Right now, it’s just an embryo, what does it know?” An Hao laughed. ”Put me down.”

Seeing she was no longer sleepy, Qin Jian put her down, still reminding her, ”Next time you’re sleepy, go to sleep in bed! Don’t sleep on the sofa again.”

An Hao yawned, stretched lazily, and stood up, ”I got it. Have you eaten? Shall I make you something?”

That evening, Qin Jian had spent half the day in the army discussing the food poisoning incident with Zhang Jianguo, which had taken up a lot of time, indeed he hadn’t eaten.

Having had diarrhea for half the day and not eaten anything, he indeed felt ravenous now.
