Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1106: Chapter 1106: Dislike the Feeling of Losing Control

Hen Zhiyuan’s eyes flickered with a hint of hesitation.

”You don’t need to say it, your eyes have already told me,” Guan Qing said. ”If that’s the case, I’ll help you.”

”Help me? How?” Hen Zhiyuan was astonished.

”The things my father won’t do for you, I will,” Guan Qing said firmly, looking into his eyes.

”Qingqing, what... what are you planning to do?” Hen Zhiyuan couldn’t imagine how Guan Qing, a businesswoman on the commercial battlefield, could have any way to help him get promoted to regimental commander.

”That’s not for you to worry about,” Guan Qing said with a smile. ”You just remember that all roads lead to Rome! If one is blocked, I’ll try another.”

”Just don’t do anything reckless,” Hen Zhiyuan knew Guan Qing was always headstrong and feared she might do something inappropriate.

”Look how scared you are! Don’t worry, I just want you to be promoted to regimental commander. I won’t resort to killing or arson. You won’t be flying your flag with my father’s backing so fast! What are you panicking about?” Guan Qing said slowly.

”It’s not that I’m afraid you’ll...” Hen Zhiyuan sighed, ”I don’t know what you can do, and I don’t want you getting involved. Just focus on your business, take your time, take care of Kexin...”

”I don’t need you to worry about my family affairs,” Guan Qing interrupted him with two sentences, ”You just focus on your work! Trust that there will be results soon.”

After finishing, Guan Qing didn’t mention the subject again and walked ahead quickly, leaving Hen Zhiyuan behind.

”Qingqing,” Hen Zhiyuan hurried a few steps to catch up with her, ”wait.”

”If you have something to say, just say it!”

”Why are you so good to me?” Hen Zhiyuan asked, looking at her, finally voicing the question he hadn’t dared to ask for many years.

”What do you think?” Guan Qing stopped in her tracks.

”I...” His words circled in his mouth, but Hen Zhiyuan still couldn’t speak them out.

He felt that once certain things crossed a boundary, they would race uncontrollably in a direction he couldn’t manage.

He didn’t like that feeling of being out of control.

Seeing his hesitant manner, Guan Qing smiled, looked down at her watch, and said, ”It’s getting late, you should go back.”

”Alright,” Hen Zhiyuan paused for a moment and then turned to leave.

Unexpectedly, his body sank as Guan Qing hugged him from behind.

Hen Zhiyuan’s breath caught, and his whole body stiffened. ”Qingqing...”

Guan Qing let go, patted his shoulder, and said, ”I’m fine, just a bit tired! I need some motivation to keep moving forward!”

After speaking, Guan Qing turned and left.

Hen Zhiyuan exhaled relievedly, looked back at her figure, and then turned and walked away as well.

When he got home, Ma Mei came up to greet him: ”How did it go? What did General Guan say?”

”What else could he say?” Hen Zhiyuan smiled helplessly, ”He just told me that they would definitely use my plan this time.”

”That’s too bad!” Ma Mei sighed, reaching out to help Hen Zhiyuan take off his military jacket, ”Stop thinking about it! Get some rest early.”

...........................

Guan Qing arrived at the company.

As soon as she walked through the office door, she took off her coat and sat down in the boss chair.

The assistant quickly brewed a cup of coffee for her and brought it over.

Guan Qing got up, took a sip, and said, ”Give you one hour to find Wang Jiu for me.”

”Yes.”

An hour later, the assistant came back.

”Where is he?” Guan Qing asked, fixing her nails without even lifting her head.

”Wang Jiu won’t come!” The assistant reported respectfully, ”He says there’s a crackdown recently, and he doesn’t want to invite trouble, fearing it might land him in a cell.”
