Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1040: Chapter 1040: The Tense Atmosphere in the Air

So as not to worry them!

After all, this shooting incident caused quite a stir!

Both the military and police are taking this case very seriously!

To ensure that the entire nation could have a good New Year, the police decided not to release any information for the time being as long as the criminal was contained in a certain area and not running amok, temporarily not affecting people’s lives.

Should the situation change and uncontrollable factors arise, the police would certainly issue a red alert.

As one of the military region leaders, Ning Yibin had learned of the shooting incident early on, which happened to occur at the base of the infantry regiment where Qin Jian was stationed.

Thus, when his son did not return on the prearranged date, he had a feeling something was amiss.

This was just a confirmation.

”So when is he coming back, then? Not even a call,” Zhang Yun worriedly asked about Qin Jian’s welfare.

She had once been a member of the military, but retired early due to Ning Bo’s poor health. Whenever there was a serious incident, the air would be filled with such tense atmosphere.

Having been married to Ning Yibin for so many years, she understood the meaning behind her husband’s every action and glance.

Clearly, her husband wasn’t telling the truth.

After dinner, Zhang Yun went back to the bedroom and once again asked Ning Yibin about their son.

”What exactly is our son doing? Tell me the truth!”

”The day Qin Jian was supposed to return, an incident occurred at their base where a sentinel was shot and their gun stolen! It caused quite a commotion! Our son is taking part in the pursuit mission,” Ning Yibin replied.

”Isn’t that very dangerous?” Zhang Yun felt a cold chill through her hands and feet upon hearing this.

”If you’re afraid of danger, then don’t join the army!” Ning Yibin said.

”You old man! Sometimes I really want to give you a good beating! Won’t you let others speak? Always so harshly choking off their words!” Zhang Yun angrily said.

”Don’t tell your daughter-in-law about this. I’m afraid it would burden her mind!” Ning Yibin said.

”Don’t worry! I’m not clueless,” Zhang Yun assured him.

The next day, with New Year’s approaching, An Hao had been staying at the house for quite some time.

She planned to go back and tidy up her things, preparing to return for the New Year’s celebration.

However, Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun wanted her to stay in her hometown for a few more days, so early in the morning, the couple received a call from the capital.

Ning Yibin’s former superior was already ninety years old, not in good health, and this was likely to be his last Spring Festival.

The old man’s wish was to spend it with his old comrades and subordinates.

They had to fulfill the old chief’s wish no matter what.

Moreover, the old chief had saved his life on the battlefield! He had planned to visit after the New Year, but the chief hoped they could reunite before the festival.

So, the old couple packed their things and prepared to go to the capital.

Leaving An Hao alone in the military compound to watch others celebrate would be too lonely, so they decided it was better for her to return to the village. First, she could reunite with her family for the New Year. Second, if things went well, Qin Jian would definitely be able to make it back before the Spring Festival.

He was a good soldier but not a good son-in-law!

He never did chores for his father-in-law, nor had he the time to sit with him! Perhaps, this was also an opportunity for him to spend the New Year in the village.

After Ning Yibin and his wife had left, An Hao locked up and took the car back to her hometown.

When she arrived home, An Shuchao was making tofu with An Ping. It was already after the Little New Year, and the actual New Year’s Day was not far off.
