Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 966: Chapter 966 Be Extra Careful

”I’ve met him. Plump and cute with two bright, big eyes—you just can’t help but adore him,” Ning Yibin said as he held the baby, not willing to let go.

At that moment, he thought how wonderful it would be if the grandchild were his own.

Seeing how much the two elders enjoyed being around the child, An Hao felt a certain unease in her heart.

Indeed, when she thought about it, people their age already had grandchildren, some of whom were even old enough to attend elementary school.

Yet, Qin Jian had only been married for two years and still didn’t have any children.

The family had always been taking care of her, and this time, An Hao made up her mind.

During the holiday, she would get another check-up, and if necessary, she would start taking some traditional Chinese medicine.

She was prepared to persevere, whether it took three to five months or even one to two years.

She was determined to make Qin Jian a father and let both elders become grandparents.

After lunch, An Hao went to the kitchen to clean up by herself.

Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun went to take a nap.

She scrubbed and cleaned all the pots and pans, and after organizing everything, she also wiped the floors upstairs and downstairs in the living room.

She only stopped when she was so tired and sweating profusely, returning upstairs as the weather outside turned dreary, with the north wind howling and the trees creaking.

She took off her coat and climbed into bed, ready to cozy up and take a nap.

As soon as she lay down, her gaze fell on the telephone on the bedside table.

It had been many days since she had called Qin Jian. She missed him and wanted to hear his voice.

Just as she picked up the phone to dial Qin Jian, the bedside phone rang.

An Hao quickly answered, ”Hello...”

”Wife!” Qin Jian’s voice came through the phone, sounding a bit weary, ”My family has been trying to call you several times today, and you’ve finally decided to answer.”

”It’s not that I didn’t want to answer. I wasn’t here in the morning and only got back home around noon,” An Hao explained.

”Today is dad’s birthday, unfortunately, I can’t make it back.” He had been busy with maneuvers and exercises these days and hadn’t had a moment’s rest.

”Everyone will understand. Just focus on your work. Work hard to get a promotion and make dad proud,” she encouraged.

”My name is on the list for the officer promotion this time,” Qin Jian shared briefly, ”But the final outcome still depends on the senior leaders’ decision. By the way, you mentioned in your letter that Cheng Yu had come back. Has there been any news recently?”

”Nothing so far. I’ve heard from Cheng Yue that she’s possibly here for medical treatment? They’re saying there’s a chance to remove the bullet in her head.” An Hao worried that with the bullet gone, Cheng Yu might become even more unrestrained.

”In any case, be careful,” Qin Jian advised earnestly, ”Don’t go wandering around when there’s no need. Wherever Cheng Yu is, Luo Gang is sure to be there.”

”Luo Gang?” The memory of the man with the scar on his face sent a chill down An Hao’s spine, ”That man is Cheng Yu’s admirer.”

”I’ve done some basic gathering of information about him, and I’ve also spoken with Uncle Cheng over the phone. An Hao, that man is definitely dangerous, to be honest, I’m really worried!”

During his honeymoon, Qin Jian had received two mysterious letters at home.

The first letter contained a red maple leaf and a blank piece of paper.

The second letter, which followed soon after, contained a section of a razor blade.

At the time, Qin Jian didn’t understand the meaning of the razor blade.

But after so much time and so many events, Qin Jian had a sudden realization.

The razor blade was actually meant for him, and not for An Hao.
