Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 884: Chapter 885: 5000 Yuan Dowry

Tian Niu raised his hand to stroke Gu Shuangshuang’s hair, a faint pain spreading through his heart, ”Fine, I promise you.”

Gu Shuangshuang looked up with a smile, hooked her arms around his neck, and passionately kissed him.

It was not until both were gasping for breath that they finally stopped.

Gu Shuangshuang, seeing Tian Niu’s look of wanting yet forcibly restraining himself, couldn’t help but laugh loudly, ”Since ancient times, it has been hard to be a gentleman! I already said that if you want me, I will give myself to you, yet you insist on holding back. What if something really happened between us? What if something happened and Old Duan really did have to take me to the operating table for the sake of the child?”

”Shuangshuang, I hope our marriage can receive the blessings of both our elders! I want our future children to live in an environment filled with love,” Tian Niu thought things through more thoroughly.

In fact, his real thought was that the current resistance was so great.

If he couldn’t end up with Gu Shuangshuang, he didn’t want her to leave with scars all over her.

Nor did he wish for her to suffer future consequences because of a momentary impulse.

”Alright, I’ll listen to you,” Gu Shuangshuang laughed happily, feeling fortunate to have met such a good man.

Seeing her smile, Tian Niu also felt moved, ”What a silly girl. Where am I so good that you insist on sticking with me?”

”I’m stubborn when I have set my mind on something. Once I’ve chosen a path, I will follow it until it darkens. I’ve set my mind on you in this life. You are my man,” Gu Shuangshuang said.

”Fine!” Tian Niu made up his mind, no matter how difficult, he had to marry Gu Shuangshuang, ”This life, I’ll marry no one but you. Alright, but we need to make a deal. During this time, you’re not allowed to tease me at every turn! I can’t take it.”

Gu Shuangshuang let out a giggling laugh, ”This will be a good test of your will as a member of the PLA.”

..................

Tian Niu sent a telegram home, explaining the situation.

If he wanted to marry Gu Shuangshuang, his future mother-in-law required a dowry of five thousand yuan.

Therefore, he might send less money home for a while, saving up more.

He asked his parents and two younger sisters to be a bit more understanding.

After receiving the telegram, Tian Niu’s mother gathered the whole family and called a meeting.

”You all know our family’s situation. Tian Wazi is almost thirty and still hasn’t found a wife. Last New Year, he brought this girl home and we were quite satisfied with her. I’m thinking, Tian Wazi hasn’t had it easy these years. He finally met someone he likes. Let him marry her, shall we?”

”But that’s five thousand yuan,” the elder sister said, feeling a headache at the thought.

That was a huge sum in the village, almost astronomical.

”I know. Do you think it’s that easy to marry a girl from the city?”

”But if your brother likes her, let’s marry her off to him,” Tian Niu’s father said, puffing away at his tobacco pipe, ”At worst, our family will just work a bit harder this year. Your mother isn’t in good health, so let her stay at home! I’m still fit enough to go hunting in the mountains. You two sisters go out and find some work to do. Later, you can chip in with your brother. Let’s try to gather the money as soon as possible so your brother can bring his bride home.”

”No problem. We’ll do as Dad says,” the elder and younger sisters said in unison.

............

Since they needed to gather money, there was one person who definitely had money in hand.
