Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 787: Chapter 787: Ravaging the Blossoms of the Motherland

”Don’t even think about it! She’s still so young, just a college student! Even if you guess higher, she’s barely twenty, right? I’m already twenty-six or seven! Do you really think there’s any chance for us? Besides, I don’t want to destroy one of our country’s young flowers!” Yan Huan really admired her mom’s persistence. She would bet a dime that if any guy wanted her, Comrade Feng would definitely be beating drums and setting off firecrackers to push her out the door.

She would probably be willing to pay money to marry her off.

”Stop talking nonsense! What ’destroying one of the country’s young flowers’? Don’t she look just fine to me?” Feng Yuzhi started nagging again, ”You’re just so stubborn. If the person who had been saved was me, I would never let that boy just slip away for nothing.”

”Mom, enough already. Give my ears a break, will you? I’ve already agreed to look for a partner, so give me some breathing room, okay? You’re in such a rush all the time, anyone would think there’s something wrong with me!” Yan Huan said.

Seeing that her daughter was already annoyed with her, Feng Yuzhi wisely shut her mouth.

Downstairs, there was a knock at the door.

Yan Luquan had returned, and hearing the mother and daughter quarreling again upstairs, he shouted from below, ”You two, that’s quite enough, no need to argue all day. Let me have some peace and quiet too.”

When Yan Huan heard that Yan Luquan was back, she rushed down from the second floor like a gust of wind and sat down next to her father, speaking very seriously, ”Dad! I have something to tell you.”

Yan Luquan, just about to read the newspaper, put it down when he heard Yan Huan had something to tell him, ”This is rare, out with it, I’m listening!”

”Dad, have you heard of someone called the Overlord of South Street? He’s been really brazen lately!”

”No,” Yan Luquan shook his head.

Feng Yuzhi brought over two cups of tea and placed them in front of the father and daughter, saying, ”Your dad’s always at the military base, how would he know about local affairs? Just say what you want to tell him directly.”

Yan Huan recounted the day’s events to him.

After hearing the story, Yan Luquan slammed his palm on the table, ”Isn’t this like the mafia? Running a skating rink and extorting protection money! Bullying a young girl in broad daylight!”

”Exactly!” Yan Huan was filled with righteous anger, she hadn’t even dared to tell her dad about that thug claiming to be her father. If she had, her dad would probably explode with rage, ”Dad, how can we tolerate such social scum? You should’ve seen it, the whole skating rink full of people just watched him bully someone, not one dared to make a peep. What does that tell you? Are people too cowardly? Not really, it’s because he’s too brazen and powerful!”

”Shouldn’t the local authorities take some action? What about the public security bureau or the local police station? Why don’t they arrest him?” Feng Yuzhi asked.

”People like him don’t commit big crimes like murder or robbery! They’d probably lock him up for a few days and then release him,” Yan Luquan analyzed.

”Dad, you should call the recon company and have them come with guns and take down that skating rink. Take out that ruffian.” Yan Huan slapped the table, her spirit soaring to the skies as she spoke.

”Should I also send an artillery battalion and roll out a couple of tanks while I’m at it?” Yan Luquan raised an eyebrow at Yan Huan, ”Do you think the military is your family’s private business?”

”But surely we can’t just let them get away with this, can we?”

”Here’s what we’ll do, I’ll give Nancheng City’s Public Security Bureau a call, and I’ll have them pay special attention to this person.” After saying this, Yan Luquan picked up the phone.
