Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 724: Chapter 724 Even If You Don’t Like It, It’s Still Your Own Flesh and Blood

Cheng Nanfang’s grip was strong, and the pain in his ear felt like it had been clamped with pliers. Grimacing in pain, he opened his mouth and shouted, ”Mom! Are you going to do something about Cheng Nanfang!”

Qi Siyuan hurried out of the kitchen upon hearing Cheng Yue’s voice, still holding an unfinished dumpling in her hand, ”Old Cheng! What’s the matter with you? Our son barely comes home, and you’re picking on him every other day?”

”I can’t stand the sight of him!” Cheng Nanfang said in his deep voice, ”This kid holds grudges too much! He got into a fight at school and ended up in such a state, then remembers to have me send a car to pick him up? I didn’t send a car. I let him take the train back instead, and now this is his attitude? He hasn’t spoken to me for half a month! What’s more infuriating is that I inquired about Li Zhi’s situation and only then did I learn that he fought over a girl. Can you believe it? How did I end up with a son like this?”

Seeing that he would not let go, Qi Siyuan slapped his hand away, ”Even if you find him displeasing, he’s still your offspring! His temperament and character also carry your genes.”

”Si Yuan, what nonsense are you talking!” Cheng Nanfang said, staring at his wife, ”You better not talk nonsense in front of this rascal!”

Qi Siyuan tried hard to hold back her laughter and glared at him, ”You yourself know what you’ve done!”

”Mom! What bad things did Old Cheng do?” Cheng Yue asked, rubbing his sore ear.

”Is ’Old Cheng’ what you should be calling me?” Cheng Nanfang glared at his son, ”Go away! Wait for the dumplings later.”

”Come on. Let’s go to the kitchen. Don’t bother with that old man anymore. Go talk to your sister. She barely comes home once a year.”

”Si Yuan,” Cheng Nanfang called after her, ”do you really think this rascal has inherited my personality?”

”What do you think? Just think about what you did back in the day, see if it doesn’t resemble what your son is like?” Qi Siyuan said with a smile.

Back in the day, Qi Siyuan was a soldier in the performing arts troupe, beautiful in appearance and with an excellent physique.

Just after the liberation, the whole country was still unstable.

There were still many spies and bandits left from the war active on the mainland, and Cheng Nanfang had once spent a period of time leading his troops around on bandit suppression missions.

Once, he had made great achievements and was wounded in the process.

After he recovered from his injuries, their performing arts troupe went there to perform and offer their consolation. She danced a ballet piece from ”The Red Detachment of Women” on stage.

During the performance, she constantly felt a burning gaze following her.

Because she was performing on stage, she couldn’t seek out the source of that gaze.

After she came off the stage, many leaders remembered her because of her remarkable performance.

Some wanted to introduce her to prospective partners, and others wanted to pursue her themselves.

It was then that a man approached her. Qi Siyuan knew at first sight that he was the source of that gaze.

It turned out to be the gaze of this man.

Passionate, yearning, and so forthright it couldn’t be ignored.

”You’re Qi Siyuan? I’m Cheng Nanfang! I hold the rank of regiment commander! I’ve been tasked by my superiors with bandit suppression operations! You were terrific in today’s performance! I’ve taken a fancy to you! Once I’ve finished the bandit suppression, I’m going to marry you!” he said, and then he took a pen from his pocket and forced it into her hand, ”This is a token of our engagement!”

Qi Siyuan stared dumbfounded at the man. Could there really be such a way of pursuing a woman?
