Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 685: Chapter 684 Deliberately Making Things Difficult

Seeing that the auspicious time was about to pass, the bridegroom’s side was anxious to fetch the bride, fearing the delay would spoil the good fortune.

Qin Fen felt that there should be enough red envelopes, but the door to the room remained closed.

”Qin Fen! Didn’t you sort this out in advance? We have an auspicious time to consider, and it’s almost passing. You’d better hurry up and urge the bride,” Wang Erzhu’s father reminded him from the side.

”Alright,” Qin Fen nodded, quickly knocked on the door, and said to Song Yueqin, ”Yueqin, it’s getting late. Can you quickly open the door?”

”I’d like to open it, but this isn’t something I can control!” Song Yueqin’s voice came from inside.

”That’s right. If you can’t even handle us, how can we rely on you after my sister marries into your family – if anything happens?”

”That’s right!”

”Exactly!”

”If you don’t bring the red envelopes, she can’t go with you.”

Qin Fen was stunned when he heard this: ”This isn’t what we agreed upon before!”

”What agreed upon or not? Hurry up and bring the red envelopes.”

”Qin Fen, if it doesn’t work, we might as well kick the door in!” the friends who had accompanied Qin Fen to fetch the bride suggested.

”You dare! If you kick the door open, we’ll never let you off! If you want to add some flavor to the wedding, then go ahead with full confidence,” the people inside retorted.

”What should we do, Uncle Wang?” Qin Fen felt that they were serious inside, and now, out of ideas, he turned to others for help.

Since he had taken on this task, it was his duty to see it through successfully.

So, Wang Erzhu’s father went to discuss the matter with Song Jincai and Zhang Juyun.

When he arrived at the north room, Wang Erzhu called for Song Jincai.

Zhang Juyun heard him and hurried over: ”What’s the matter, butler?”

”Juyun, today is a day of celebration, you should ask them inside to open the door. If we miss the auspicious time, it won’t be good for the kids, and I won’t be able to explain it to the Qin Family,” Wang Erzhu’s father tried to negotiate with her.

Zhang Juyun laughed upon hearing this: ”I thought it was something serious. So, it’s about this! It’s easy, if the red envelopes are enough, the door will naturally be opened.”

”They have been given! Quite a few, indeed.”

”Then why hasn’t it opened? It must still not be enough,” Zhang Juyun said with a chuckle.

Wang Erzhu had personally seen the red envelopes given, and truly, it could not be considered a small amount: ”Juyun, let’s discuss this matter...”

”There’s nothing to discuss. If enough red envelopes are given, the door will naturally open. Hurry up and prepare the red envelopes!” Zhang Juyun dropped the words and turned to go back inside to entertain the relatives.

This infuriated Wang Erzhu’s father to no end.

This was clearly looking for trouble!

And he was right – Zhang Juyun had indeed been holding back all her frustration, which now exploded at this wedding.

The Qin Family had not given the bride price, only a worthless I.O.U. – what was this?

All right! To make the wedding happen, she was willing to bite the bullet and swallow it down with blood. But when it came to the wedding preparations, the Qin Family hadn’t even made the furniture, and out of the three big items, they only planned to buy a bicycle.

How was her daughter Yueqin supposed to live with that?

She was determined to make it difficult for the Qin Family today. She didn’t believe that after all the time and money spent, and with relatives informed, that they would cancel the wedding over a few red envelopes?

More importantly, Qin Fen would definitely not call off the wedding. The lad had Yueqin on his mind, and not letting him marry was akin to driving him mad.

So, Zhang Juyun was intentionally making things difficult for the Qin Family – no red envelopes, no bride.

As for how much? It had to be at least a hundred yuan!

With nothing resolved, Wang Erzhu returned to the front of the bridal room.

”How did it go, Uncle Wang?” Qin Fen asked anxiously.
