Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 649: Chapter 649: A Double Blow to Mind and Body

Zhang Chaoqian took the letter, dodged An Hao’s attack, and without hesitation opened the envelope.

Cheng Yue stood in front and started playing a game of ’eagle catches chicks’ with An Hao.

Whenever An Hao pounced, he blocked her.

The two of them ignored the rain pouring down from the sky.

Zhang Chaoqian held an umbrella in one hand, and the letter in the other, skillfully dodging An Hao.

He pulled out the letter paper and began to read aloud:

An Hao, my wife!

Seeing this letter is like seeing your face!

The saying ’a single day apart feels like three autumns’ is true! During these days we’ve been separated, I have thought about you every moment.

I truly wish I could be with you in love every day, but the duty of a military man dictates that I must prioritize the interests of the nation and the people.

Working on disaster relief every day is exhausting, but I am safe now! You needn’t worry! Reconstruction after the disaster will take some time, and our whole troop is fighting on the front lines. It’s tiring, but it feels worthwhile!

The happiest moments of each day are when the moon sets, for closing my eyes enables me to see you in my dreams... Remembering our night after night of... entwining... Recalling your soft... body...

”I can’t go on! The rest is all private talk between husband and wife! Even if I’m a scoundrel, I can’t be so vile as to read out a couple’s love letter in front of others, can I?”

Thinking it was a family letter, who knew it turned out to be a hot love letter?

”Give that to me to read!” Cheng Yue turned around and grabbed the letter, but before he could read the content, An Hao firmly caught hold of the paper.

”Let go!” An Hao shouted fiercely.

”I won’t! I must see it with my own eyes!” The moment the content of the letter was read out loud, Cheng Yue felt as if a piece of his heart had fallen.

His feelings were just beginning to blossom, and before the flower of love could bloom, it withered away like this!

Proud as he was, he couldn’t accept it!

An Hao couldn’t endure Cheng Yue snatching her private letter with Qin Jian. Cheng Yue told her to let go, but she refused, and in the struggle between them, there was a ripping sound!

The letter tore in half!

”Let go!”

”I won’t!”

An Hao panicked, and stomped down hard on Cheng Yue’s foot.

She happened to be wearing leather shoes with a small heel today, and when she stomped down with such force, all that could be heard was Cheng Yue’s agonized cry, as he let go of the letter and started comically hopping around in the rain-soaked ground.

”It hurts to death! Like my toe’s been smashed off.”

”Serves you right!” An Hao cursed at him and walked away with her letter.

”Hahaha! I do feel for you!” It was rare to see Cheng Yue down on his luck, and instead of sympathizing, Zhang Chaoqian took delight in his misfortune.

”Shut it!”

”Off to a bad start, eh?” Zhang Chaoqian shook his head, ”Poor thing! The always discerning Young Master Cheng has taken a fancy to a married woman! It’s tragic and lamentable! Today marks your day of misfortune, enduring both physical and mental blows! Alas! Pitiful! You’re even worse off than Li Zhi...”

No sooner had Zhang Chaoqian finished speaking, than they heard a pig-like scream from not far away.

Both of them were startled by the fierce scream, shivering as they looked towards the base of the big tree.

There, Li Zhi was seen clutching his crotch, hopping around on the spot like a monkey.

Gu Shuangshuang, with a smile on her face, rubbed her sore knee and said to Li Zhi, ”Dare to touch me again, and you’ll see whether I don’t cripple you! Consider this a warning! Remember, I have a man! Stop that foolish longing!”
