Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 624: Chapter 624: Setting Sights on the An Family’s Door

Qin Jian continued with his work, leaving Song Yueqin alone on the ground.

”Log! Rock! You wouldn’t want them even if they were gifted! Fool!” Song Yueqin angrily pounded the ground, biting her teeth and muttering curses at Qin Jian under her breath.

She really didn’t understand what was so good about An Hao that made this man so unwaveringly loyal to her.

Huffing with anger, Song Yueqin picked herself up from the ground, brushed the dirt off her body, rubbed the sore spot on the back of her head where she had knocked it, and then headed back to the Qin family’s house.

In Qin Feng’s room, the conversation was still going on.

She stopped in her tracks and stood under the window to listen carefully. At that moment, Qin Fen’s voice came from inside the room.

”Mom, I absolutely must have Yueqin. I just like her. I won’t marry anyone but her! Mom, if you don’t let me marry Yueqin, I’ll remain a bachelor for the rest of my life!”

Li Junping was infuriated by her son’s bullheadedness: ”I told you you could marry her! I never said you couldn’t! But our family doesn’t have the money for the bride price!”

Hearing this, Song Yueqin pushed the door open and entered: ”Auntie, what my mom said earlier is feasible. The An family isn’t short on money now; I’ve long since heard people in the village talking about it. The An family is probably already a ten-thousand-yuan household by now, they will definitely lend you the money if you ask.”

Li Junping was so angry she felt an itch in her teeth.

This little girl’s mouth is really vicious! And she’s got a bad heart too!

At the beginning, she even felt that An Hao wasn’t all that great, but now she could see that the real person with a bellyful of bad water was right here.

”Alright, is that decided then? When your sister-in-law comes by later, you bring this up with her. If you don’t let Yueqin and me be together, I might as well drink pesticide and end it all—save you all some trouble.”

”You...” This damn thing was about to drive Li Junping mad.

An Hao was busy in the kitchen the whole time. She knew about the arrival of Zhang Juyun and Song Yueqin early on, but she just didn’t want to step out and greet them.

She had just finished the work in the kitchen and was about to step out to get some fresh air when she saw Qin Fen standing in the courtyard calling her over: ”Sister-in-law, could you come here a minute?”

Qin Fen had a bone to pick with her.

An Hao was aware of that. Back then, when he pleaded on behalf of Song Yueqin, she was unmoved and didn’t give face to him at all, and this had always left Qin Fen feeling bitter.

Now, with him suddenly calling her over so warmly, she was sure he was up to no good.

An Hao had already guessed the situation quite accurately.

”What’s up? Did you need me for something?”

Qin Fen said with a grin, ”It’s Mom who needs to talk to you. Come over quickly, please? This is a big matter for our family, and as the elder sister-in-law, like a mother, you should be involved.”

An Hao sneered internally, thinking that if they wanted her involved, it could hardly be anything good.

Though she thought this, An Hao still responded with a smile: ”Alright. Since you hold me in such high regard, it would be rude not to get involved.”

As An Hao entered the room, she had barely steadied herself when she heard Zhang Juyun say, ”Oh my, An Hao! You see, your aunt has been here for quite some time without a drop of water to drink, parched and with a dry mouth! As the Qin family’s daughter-in-law, you should have thought of this! These matters of receiving and entertaining guests are yours to handle.”

An Hao thought, I haven’t even pointed out your faults yet, and you come in the door picking on mine first.

So, with a sweet smile, she responded, ”I’m really sorry, Auntie! I’ve been so busy cooking, I didn’t get around to boiling any water. If you don’t mind, there’s cold water in the jar, shall I fetch you a ladleful?”

Seeing this, Li Junping was annoyed by Zhang Juyun’s antics; she stretched out her leg and kicked Qin Fen, saying, ”Go, boil some water for your future mother-in-law.”

Zhang Juyun quickly interjected, ”Ah, never mind, don’t bother! I’ll just bear with it! Let’s get today’s important matter settled first.”
