Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 299: Chapter 298 Eager to Try

An Hao and Zhang Lanxiang’s back-and-forth praise left the boss beaming with delight.

He was so happy he couldn’t stop smiling.

Since the two had tentatively discussed some content, all that remained was for An Hao to create a sample for delivery and inspection.

Considering that getting the fabric wasn’t so easy, An Hao didn’t take much—she took only enough material for two pairs of pants, paid the boss on the spot, and took it away.

After all, it was the first collaboration, and since it was uncertain whether it would succeed, it was better to purchase the fabric.

Since the boss was a straightforward man and had already given her the clothes, An Hao couldn’t let him fret or bear this risk.

An Hao and the boss agreed that one week later, An Hao would bring the sample, and if the sample was up to standard and the processing price was fair, they would sign a supply contract.

As she left the garment store, An Hao, dressed in her newly acquired clothes, turned many heads in the street.

An Hao was naturally beautiful, and dressed in the latest popular fashion, the jeans fit her perfectly, highlighting her slim and long legs—enough to make countless girls envious.

The two of them went to other shops for a look, and An Hao tried on a set by chance—a white shirt with a light blue long skirt that also looked very good on her, accentuating her pure and clean face even more appealingly.

An Hao asked for the price, and upon hearing it was quite a sum, she hesitated to buy it for herself.

Zhang Lanxiang insisted on purchasing it, and An Hao couldn’t stop her.

After buying it, Zhang Lanxiang told her, ”This is Qin Jian’s money. He heard you barely wear that red dress, feeling pity for you. He knew we were going out shopping and insisted on giving me money to buy anything you liked. Qin Jian really is a good man; I’ve never seen him so considerate towards any girl.”

An Hao’s heart warmed, and since Zhang Lanxiang had mentioned it, she didn’t refuse.

The clothes were bought, and she decided, once she made some money, to give him a few gifts that would really please him.

”Thank you, sister-in-law, for taking such good care of us,” An Hao sincerely thanked her.

”What’s there to thank me for?” Zhang Lanxiang laughed looking at An Hao, ”In my opinion, you should get married as soon as you’re of age. Qin Jian isn’t young anymore; men his age are married with children old enough to send for soy sauce.”

”Mhm,” An Hao nodded with a smile, ”we’ve agreed, as soon as I’m of age, we will go get our marriage certificate.”

”That’s the spirit,” Zhang Lanxiang said, holding An Hao’s hand, ”Let’s go home. I’ll make you something delicious.”

On the way, An Hao bought quite a lot of fruit.

Upon reaching home, Zhang Lanxiang made her way to the kitchen to cook, but An Hao stopped her, ”Sister-in-law, may I please ask a favor of you?”

”What is it?” Zhang Lanxiang replied, munching on a tomato while handing one to An Hao.

An Hao took a bite of the tomato and said, ”Sister-in-law, I’ll cook. Could you help me figure out how to make jeans? Is it difficult? Could you help me draw a design?”

This was because the clothing factory in their village wasn’t state-owned but owned by a wealthy boss.

It was a private enterprise.

She had heard that the factory employed mostly operators, with very few designers.

The boss, a tailor from out of town, had settled down after the national land reforms when some regions distributed land to households early, after which families began to farm their own land.

However, he had an accident, injuring his back, which prevented him from doing heavy work.

So he heeded the government’s call to go into business and started as a tailor. Now, having made a name for himself, he had opened a garment factory.
