Chapter 472: Chapter 217: High-Quality Fabric! Friendly Bargaining! (Thanks to the readers for their support)_6

”How much per piece?” Yuchi still asked the question.

What use does he have for small pieces? These clothes are just a rip-off... No, they are meant to be sold to female disciples who have money. More importantly, they are meant to elevate the prestige of Immortal Robe Pavilion to the highest level. These aren’t mass-market items but are meant to cause a sensation among women’s gowns.

And you want to give me a small piece?

Am I supposed to hang you up with a small piece? Hang till death?

Is this really stubbornness?! Su Qifang was almost spitting blood but couldn’t help it. After all, the person was the guild master. He resignedly said, ”Guild Master, a roll of small pieces costs twelve taels, and a roll of large pieces costs one thousand taels.”

Small pieces cost twelve taels per roll, roughly twelve thousand in the previous life, and a sizable roll is a million.

And one large roll could make two dresses, so the cost of the fabric alone, excluding labor, is fifty thousand per dress.

”Fifty thousand?!”

”Shit!”

”Are you robbing money?!”

Yuchi pondered for a moment. In the clothing shops of Jiangzhou City, the prices of clothes are ten times that of Xufu Town, meaning a not-so-eye-catching dress would cost about one tael of silver, roughly one thousand. While the female disciples buy clothes in ”bundles,” usually ten items per bundle, their spending typically totals ten taels, about ten thousand.

Buy ten outfits for ten taels of silver, and if you don’t like any, just throw them away.

Yet the fabric itself costs five hundred taels. Factoring in the ”exorbitant” markup, a single dress costs a thousand taels.

One outfit for a thousand taels, a dress for a million?!

Invest and weep!

”Sorry to bother you.” Yuchi backed down.

Female cultivators may have money, but they aren’t that impulsive, are they? They might tolerate prices tenfold, but raising it a hundredfold makes them frown, and a thousandfold means you’re reaching for the sky?

”The cost is too high.”

Yuchi frowned, ”I’m planning to release six designs. There will be no stockpiles for the clothes, pre-orders only, and I don’t know how well they will sell yet. Not sure if these female cultivators will find them appealing. However, samples of the outfits are necessary for display... so the price is indeed exaggerated.”

While Su Qifang was enjoying herself, Yuchi said, ”Can you do one hundred taels for a large piece? If so, I’ll take ten pieces.”

Su Qifang: ”...”

Most people cut prices a little bit; you’re coming at me with a guillotine?! Slashing it right down from a thousand taels to a hundred?!

I!

Crap!

If you weren’t the guild master, and if I didn’t find you somewhat agreeable, I would have hit you!

With a long sigh:

”I suggest you go with the small pieces, Master Guild. The small pieces make excellent ribbons or waistbands. The dimensions have been verified by us to be adequate. To speak candidly, the price of a complete dress made from large pieces is simply too high; it won’t sell.”

Of course, Su Qifang understood Yuchi’s intentions. He wanted to use high-quality materials for making clothes, which is understandable. They wanted the same. But this can be likened to using gold; it’s reasonable to forge a bracelet, but if you make a heavy dog collar and toss it into water, even a hundred-pound dog wouldn’t swim—it’s just over the top.

Too expensive!

”I know it’s pricey, so can you do it for a hundred taels?” Yuchi smiled.

Indeed, a thousand taels per dress is over the top, but a hundred taels is not. Female cultivators might grit their teeth, but they’d buy it, considering the style is worth that much gold and silver.

”One hundred taels... that’s a bit difficult.” Su Qifang seemed troubled.

Yuchi: ”...”

Now it was Yuchi’s turn to be speechless. Your profits are through the roof! These items are like Jade Pendants; there’s no set price. Is it quote, cut, and divide by three? If you quote me ten thousand, do I counter with three thousand?

It reminded Yuchi of an old joke.

”Boss, how much is this Jade Pendant?”

”Thirty thousand!”

”Thirty thousand... three bucks!”

I’d likely get punched for that...

Underestimating here, really, they can do that price. Such items are for a niche market, and pricing is entirely based on mood. The actual cost is surely low, just some leaves crafted into them, merely a manual labor charge.
