The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 547: Chapter 547: Lian Xichen (Part 2)

”So Fengxi adopted Lian Xichen as his foster son, but wasn’t he supposed to take Lian Xichen back to the Spirit Cultivation Realm? Why do I remember you saying that Lian Xichen was already ten years old when he went to the Spirit Cultivation Realm? So, did he stay in the Capital City for those two years?” An Chuxue asked, puzzled.

Lan Ling nodded, ”Yes, so Fengxi took Brother Xichen as his foster son and taught him martial arts and cultivation. The elders of Duke Jing’s Mansion said that during that time, Fengxi seemed to visit the mansion frequently, so I think it’s very likely that he was in the Capital City then. But if that’s the case... why didn’t he take Han Litong with him? When she poisoned the late Emperor and left, did Fengxi not go with her?”

”Don’t worry about Han Litong’s matters for now. What happened afterwards? Why did he leave the Capital City? And why did he come back later?” Han Jing asked.

”Oh, it’s like this, Old Duke Jing heard that Brother Xichen had great talent for cultivation, and considering his own age, he feared that he couldn’t always look after him. After all, in the entire Duke Jing’s Mansion, apart from her, there was no one to protect Brother Xichen. Even the old madam sided with the new wife, because this new wife was the niece of the old madam from her maternal family. Brother Xichen’s mother was a match arranged by Old Duke Jing, which the old madam had never been satisfied with. Old Duke Jing was afraid that he might pass away suddenly, leaving Brother Xichen uncared for, so he entrusted him to Fengxi, hoping that when Fengxi returned to the Spirit Cultivation Realm, he could take him away. Fengxi naturally also wished to take Brother Xichen to the Spirit Cultivation Realm because that would be more suitable for Brother Xichen’s cultivation. So probably when Fengxi left, he took Brother Xichen with him.”

”And then, it’s pretty much as I said, Fengxi died, and Old Man Yun, following Fengxi’s last wish, took Brother Xichen back to the Spirit Flame Sect to train with the leader. Until news came from the Capital City that Old Duke Jing was critically ill, Brother Xichen left the Spirit Flame Sect and returned to the Capital City. After Old Duke Jing’s death, Brother Xichen’s father, the current Duke Jing, succeeded to the title. But the position of heir that was originally supposed to belong to Brother Xichen was given by the Duke Jing to his eldest son, who was born of his second wife. The current Emperor, being an old acquaintance, withheld the request from Duke Jing to confer the heir’s title, and at that time, there was a rebellion at Donghai Jingbian in Dong Qin Country, so Brother Xichen led troops to the East Sea. Later, after stabilizing the East Sea, the Emperor personally conferred upon him the title of Marquis Yingwei, along with a mansion.”

”However, regarding the heir apparent of Duke Jing’s Mansion, the Emperor has yet to approve it, causing Duke Jing considerable distress. Oh, by the way, I found out one more thing,” Lan Ling chuckled, saying to Han Jing, ”You all really have good luck, huh? You just arrived in the Capital City and ran into the Emperor incognito! That Qin Shutong is indeed the current Emperor of Dong Qin Country, named Qin Shu, with the courtesy name Shutong. He’s an old acquaintance of Brother Xichen, so when he said he’d take you to see Brother Xichen, he was serious.”

Han Jing and An Chuxue exchanged a glance and couldn’t describe their fortune at coincidentally encountering the Emperor incognito upon arriving in the Capital City. No wonder there was something extraordinary about his aura; it turns out he has such a remarkable background!

However, Han Jing, looking rather odd, said, ”If that’s the case, then Han Litong would be Qin Shutong’s father-killing enemy... Is he here to help me or to scheme against me?”
