CEO's Reborn Wife

”It’s already trending on Twitter, how could I not know?” Jane Sampson sighed, ”Tell me what’s going on over there.”

”Trending on Twitter?” Bright Sampton didn’t realize that such a small issue could trend. After receiving the call, he hurried over. Luckily, he wasn’t in the rural suburb today, so it only took about ten plus minutes to get here, but as soon as he arrived, he didn’t have time to check his mobile phone, so he had no idea the news had gone viral on Twitter.

”Dad got brainwashed into a pyramid scheme at some point, dreaming of making big money every day. He even sold his own house and threw all the money into it, and when he lost, he still wasn’t aware. Then he started scamming money from others to keep investing, talking about some billion-dollar major project, invest 100,000, get back 200,000, doubling the profit. Now he’s been sued, and tonight he just got arrested.”

After learning all this, Bright Sampton was so angry his face turned dark.

He knew his father lacked wisdom, but he never imagined after the divorce, his father could become this foolish.

It’s one thing to fall into a pyramid scheme unknowingly, but to get into a gang, have his entire fortune scammed, and then scam others in return!

”How much did he scam?” Jane Sampson asked, ”Can this money be recovered?”

”He scammed quite a bit, more than eight million, from retirees and housewives. The entire gang has been arrested; most of the money should be recoverable.” Bright Sampton was stressed, ”It’s like he’s devil-beholden, completely irrational. Even after being arrested, he’s still in the Bureau loudly promoting his billion-dollar money making plan, claiming those who sued him will regret it sooner or later, he’s acting just like a madman!”

In other words, Father Sampton didn’t think he was scamming at all, he believed he was doing a billion-dollar business.

Bright Sampton had already cursed and shouted at his father earlier, but it was useless.

Father Sampton was brainwashed, deeply engraved in his mind were those people’s words, saying you can’t rely on others, not even a son, that a son will never support him, or even that his children are a burden, wealth obstructers.

Father Sampton somehow increasingly felt that what those people said made sense. He believed the Sampton Family went bankrupt because his three children caused it. The three children indeed jinxed him, stripping him of his fortune.

So when Bright Sampton appeared, Father Sampton was the one who went mad, furiously cursing Bright to get lost, asking him not to appear so he wouldn’t end up becoming a poor penniless again.

A perfectly normal person turned into a madman who treats his closest kin as enemies because of brainwashing.

”I’ve arranged for a lawyer to come over, but the lawyer said, considering the evidence is conclusive in my dad’s case, it’s very likely he’ll go to prison, unless an authoritative hospital’s diagnosis proves he’s mentally unstable.” Bright Sampton was incredibly anxious, ”More than eight million, that’s enough to put him in prison for years.”

Bright Sampton looked towards Father Sampton, who was handcuffed in the corner, still hysterically cursing the victims he scammed as fools who don’t know how to make money. His heart was a whirlpool of emotions.

Bright Sampton walked to the corner, lowered his voice, and said, ”Sis, I think dad is mentally unstable, so I want to consult with the lawyer about sending him to the hospital for identification.”

Jane Sampson immediately understood what Bright Sampton meant.
