CEO's Reborn Wife

Nina sighed in relief, ”Luckily, this employee wasn’t an ungrateful traitor and refused that reporter. Otherwise, if we were stabbed in the back again here, we would have had a hard time defending ourselves.”

Jane Sampson understood that people who are unaware of the truth are always more willing to believe the weak and help the side that appears weaker.

”Is there anything you need me to do?” Jane Sampson asked.

”Yes, if you hadn’t called me now, I was about to call you,” Nina said. ”You should post on Twitter to clarify things, so you won’t be dragged down and criticized by those haters. As for those causing trouble at the hot pot restaurant entrance, have your Father Black find someone to make a trip to the police station. It would be best if the police station official Twitter could help us post a clarification, informing netizens that none of the troublemakers are employees of our store.”

”Okay,” Jane Sampson agreed. ”Do you have any suspects behind this operation? Should we investigate together?”

”This small matter, I can handle it myself. I do have a suspect in mind,” Nina said. ”You don’t have to worry about the rest for now. Once we’re done with this busy period, we can set a time to go out shopping and relax.”

After hanging up, Jane Sampson took her mobile phone and entered the cloakroom.

While Jane Sampson and Nina were on the phone, James Black overheard what Jane was saying, so he went on Twitter.

So without Jane Sampson needing to ask, James Black already knew what had happened.

James Black trusted Nina very much. As someone with a lawyer’s background, she couldn’t knowingly break the law. Moreover, Nina’s straightforward nature from a young age meant she wouldn’t be confined by small interests.

”You rest a while, and I’ll make a call,” James Black patted Jane Sampson on the shoulder. ”A small matter, it can be resolved quickly.”

Jane Sampson nodded and hummed in agreement.

Thinking it over, she called James Black back, ”Find someone to check if Jillian Carter is behind this.”

Jane Sampson said, ”Basically, everyone knows I have a stake in this store. It’s hard to imagine who else would be brazen enough to come to the store and cause trouble. Nina said, today there was a reporter planning to offer money to that hospitalized employee, attempting to bribe them into saying things to smear us.”

”Hmm,” James Black responded, then took his mobile phone and left the bedroom to make a call.

To get the local police station to issue a clarification on their official Twitter, there wasn’t any need to specially send someone over; James Black solved it with a single phone call.

However, another matter that required investigation seemed to be a bit more troublesome.

James Black also wanted to know if, after that threatening recording, Jillian Carter still had the nerve to cause trouble behind the scenes.

He also wondered if Joseph Shaw could control Jillian Carter.

With this thought, James Black considered the reporter trying to bribe the hot pot restaurant’s hospitalized employee, perhaps that could be a starting point.

Jillian Carter pretended to go abroad, but in fact, had been working as a journalist domestically for many years, so she likely had extensive connections in this field.

About half an hour after James Black finished his call, the police station’s official Twitter posted a clarification.

It confirmed that among the people wearing hotpot restaurant uniforms causing a disturbance at the hotpot restaurant entrance in the morning, none were employees of the restaurant. Upon investigation, they were revealed to be professional medical disturbance groups paid to act.

Meanwhile, the Industrial and Commercial Bureau and Health Department also jointly started an investigation.

Nina directly invited the two departments on Twitter to come to the hot pot restaurant to check its hygiene conditions.
