Chapter 2209: Chapter 2217: You Call Me

As the door closed, Jane Sampson could still hear James Black saying in a very soft voice,

”Seems like I left you with too much strength.”

Jane Sampson was dumbfounded. What did he mean by that, and why did he look so regretful?

Jane Sampson snorted, and deliberately locked the door. Only then did she shuffle like an old woman towards the bookshelf. Using all her strength, she managed to push the heavy bookshelf away from the wall just a little.

”Why does it feel like when I hid it last time, this bookshelf wasn’t this heavy?” Jane Sampson sat on the ground, panting, ”Why is it so much harder to move today?”

After resting for a few seconds, she stretched her thin arm into the gap between the bookshelf and the wall, fishing around. After a while, she finally retrieved several very thin envelopes.

She weighed them in her hand, touching them again and again.

Why did they feel thinner somehow?

Was it her imagination?

Jane Sampson shook her head; it must be her imagination.

She hid them so well, James Black definitely wouldn’t have found them!

After taking out three cards, Jane Sampson restored the bookshelf to its original state, clapped her hands, and only then did she open the study door.

But, as she opened it, seeing someone standing in the doorway startled Jane Sampson.

”What are you doing standing here?” Jane Sampson exclaimed, seeing James Black’s gaze fall on the cards in her hand, she handed them over, ”Here~ for you~”

James Black, with a corner of his mouth curled, accepted them, feeling in a good mood as he put the cards into his pocket, then patted Jane Sampson’s head with a smile, saying, ”For heavy work like moving a bookshelf, call me in the future. Save your strength for elsewhere.”

With that, James Black turned and walked away, leaving Jane Sampson, who was feeling struck by thunder, alone at the study doorway.

Hearing Jane Sampson stomping her feet in frustration at the study doorway, James Black couldn’t help but laugh quietly.

So easy to tease.

For the entire afternoon, Jane Sampson was trying to interrogate James Black, asking if he had secretly taken her cards.

He actually knew where she hid the cards, so he must have taken them; otherwise, why would those envelopes seem thinner?

But James Black didn’t even bother with extra explanations, only responding with two words—”No.”

The more serious James Black acted, the more Jane Sampson doubted his trustworthiness.

”Listen up, from now on, I’m going to number those cards in my hand!” Jane Sampson kicked at James Black who was sitting next to her reading a newspaper. This was to inform him that he wouldn’t have any more opportunities to play tricks in the future.

Without even lifting an eyelid, James Black answered with a ”Hmm,” the smile at the corner of his lips becoming harder to conceal.

Getting no results from the soul-searching interrogation of James Black, Jane Sampson didn’t plan to stay in the living room to accompany him; instead, she took her mobile phone and strolled into the bedroom.

Before she even entered the room, the mobile phone started ringing.

Seeing it was Oscar Wilson calling, Jane Sampson held the phone and returned to her seat, only then picking it up.

”Little Jane, have you returned to Capital Province? If you have, let’s find some time to get together? I’m also in Capital Province, let’s call Jasmine Seven, Alexander Forest, and Nina Rice, and hang out.” Oscar Wilson asked.

”I got back very late yesterday, sure, you guys set a time that works for you, I’m on rest recently so I’m free.” Jane Sampson agreed.

”By the way, I have to tell you something really funny, you know, about Jillian Carter.” Oscar Wilson said, ”Early today, all the netizens found out that your Mr. Black gifted you a JSY clothing company? When Jillian Carter found out about this, she was furious.”
