CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 2182: Chapter 2190: Be a Little Kinder

Hearing the buzzing sound on the phone, Joseph Shaw took the mobile phone to the room, where Jillian Carter was playing on her mobile phone.

Joseph Shaw knew that James Black was telling him that he was aware of the things Jillian Carter had cursed about Jane Sampson at the guardian team’s doorway.

That day Jillian Carter lost control, shouting many things, and with the doorway so quiet, it was not surprising that someone heard.

”Jillian Carter.” Joseph Shaw called out Jillian Carter’s full name at the doorway, ”Did you go behind my back today to provoke Jane Sampson again?”

”I did not.” Jillian Carter shook her head in denial, ”I went to the film crew for a visit, but when I saw my Brother wasn’t there, I just talked with another cousin in the crew for a while and then left.”

”Stella Carter?” Joseph Shaw tapped on his mobile phone, ”The conversation you said was just a short talk, were those the things you said?”

As soon as he pressed play, Jillian Carter’s voice came from the mobile phone.

Even for Joseph Shaw, listening to his wife’s voice on the mobile phone, he had to admit, the things Jillian Carter said had a tone truly venomous and malicious.

”You...” Jillian Carter sat up in shock, ”How do you have this?”

”James Black sent it to me.” Joseph Shaw’s voice was slightly cold, ”He asked me to tell you, for the sake of the Carter Family, for my sake, he’s giving you one last chance. If there’s a next time, if you say one bad thing about Jane Sampson, he’ll deal with you. Then, I won’t be able to protect you, and neither will the Carter Family.”

”He also asked me to tell you, about how you founded West Crossing, everyone knows, and the Carter family’s money isn’t something you have a claim to.” Joseph Shaw was slightly angry, ”What did you say to Jane Sampson this afternoon!”

”Jillian Carter, I’ve told you time and time again, and you’ve promised me time and again, why do you keep going behind my back to provoke Jane Sampson again?” Joseph Shaw couldn’t bear it anymore and smashed the phone, still playing the conversation between Jillian Carter and Stella Carter, heavily at Jillian Carter’s foot side.

With a bang, the phone shattered into pieces.

The atmosphere in the room immediately turned dreadfully stiff.

”I was just saying a few words, is it not even okay to say a few words? How would I know someone would record me talking to my cousin?” Jillian Carter was frightened by Joseph Shaw’s act of tossing the phone.

”Do you know what would happen to you if this recording got into grandpa and grandma’s hands?” Joseph Shaw asked, eyes red with anger, ”Grandpa and grandma would drive you out of the Carter Family, completely severing ties with you, do you believe that?”

Even though it was a private conversation between Jillian Carter and Stella Carter, the content was so malicious that it would be enough for Old Sir Carter and Granny Carter to cast Jillian Carter out.

”Jillian Carter, can’t you be a bit kind?” Joseph Shaw almost pleaded with Jillian Carter with this sentence.

”What you did, tarnishing someone’s reputation, is no different than murder. Equally insidious and unscrupulous, equally malignant.” Joseph Shaw slowly raised his hand and tightly gripped Jillian Carter’s shoulder, ”Jillian Carter, sometimes I even doubt myself, can I really help you? Tell me, can I help you?”

Even when she was enraged and cursed that Jane Sampson should die, Joseph Shaw assumed she had lost her sanity from being provoked.

But when he heard those conversations, he realized, it wasn’t that Jillian Carter lost her sanity, it was that she lost her conscience.

Both are girls, Jillian Carter surely knows, that these words, if true, would cause Jane Sampson further great harm. Jillian Carter surely knows, even if false, such rumors would still cause Jane Sampson significant damage.
