CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1430: Chapter 1438: Are You a Devil?

It seems that it was the year Oliver Black’s son was born, just as he was celebrating his birthday at the Black Residence, and Oliver’s son was also two or three months old. During Chinese New Year, both he and Peter Gingery gave the child a generous amount of New Year’s money.

James Black, seeing Jane Sampson glaring at him, finally said, ”You’re almost thirty, not three years old.”

???

!!!

Jane Sampson was dumbfounded, ”Are you the devil?”

Wasn’t she just asking for a red envelope? Why would he say she’s almost thirty years old?

Thirty years old?

Thirty years old!!!!

To hell with thirty years old!

Who’s thirty years old!

Who gave him the right to round up her age?

Even if today is the first day of the New Year, calculating by actual age, she can’t be rounded up to thirty!

”Even if I were not thirty yet, even if I were 300 years old, I’d still want New Year’s money!” Jane was so angry that she was clenching her teeth, and the hand she stretched out really felt like it wanted to transform into a knife and shave off James’s strange train of thought.

”300 years old, you’re the devil,” James scoffed coldly and then turned his head away, continuing what he was doing before tossing out a word, ”No.”

Jane stood behind James, grinding her teeth for a good while before huffily turning around and leaving the kitchen, stomping as if she wanted to punch a hole through the floor with her footsteps.

”Did you just go into the kitchen to eat a meal of explosives?” Peter Gingery asked Jane with a snarky comment as she emerged.

”Pretty much.” Jane nodded. ”Do you know? Your brother, Demon Black, he just said I’m almost thirty? Huh? Almost thirty? How come you guys haven’t broken off friendship with him when he talks like that?”

”Hahaha~” Peter Gingery burst into laughter, ”Wow, I’m dying of laughter. In my brother’s eyes, once you’re past twenty, reaching twenty-one, then you’re almost thirty years old.”

”Then doesn’t that make him almost forty?” Jane blurted out, ”Oh my God! How horrifying? Forty...”

This number made Jane feel like she had entered into a sham marriage.

Jane said this very quickly, completely unaware that the man almost forty years old she spoke of had just appeared at the kitchen door.

In the dormitory, which was just so big, Jane’s words could probably be heard even in the bedroom.

James Black’s steps abruptly paused, and his gaze swept toward the direction of the two people who had spoken.

His eyes were as sharply piercing as flying knives.

Those who a second ago were laughing heartily on the sofa, the next second fell into complete silence.

...

All around, there was dead silence.

James went straight to the bedroom, the place where he stood seemed to still echo with that almost inaudible sneer he left behind before entering.

”...” Jane nudged Peter a bit.

”Well, I’m full, I’ll head back now, I have to go on shift this evening, so I won’t come over for dinner,” Peter quickly slipped his mobile phone into his pocket and scooted away at lightning speed.

???

Leaving Jane sitting there, completely perplexed.

Don’t go! What kind of hero runs away alone at a time like this?

Jane cried out inwardly.

She had no idea that James would suddenly pop up.

Jane fiddled with her fingers.

Clenching her teeth, yet feeling...

Why be afraid?

If he dares say she’s almost thirty, why can’t she retort?

It can’t be that he’s allowed to jab but she’s not allowed to follow suit, right?

Comforting herself like this, Jane suddenly felt re-energized.

She stood up, with an energetic and bold stride, she headed for the bedroom, after all, she had reason on her side!

It was at the bedroom entrance where Jane Sampson and James Black, who was about to leave, met. In her heart, feeling like she had the right and the courage, when she met James’s face, that courage seemed to drop into a bottomless pit and disappear all at once.
