CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1348: Chapter 1356: Not the Father’s Murderer

Minister Carter ground his teeth in anger, ”Out of all people, why did you have to fall for a married man? Do you know how shameless you’re acting? It’s bad enough that you like him, but to even dream of wrecking his family? Jillian Carter, Jane Sampson’s husband is your lifesaver, not your sworn enemy. He saved your life, yet you’re trying to ruin his marriage. Tell me, if Jane Sampson’s husband knew, wouldn’t he regret not letting you die in that accident?”

Repaying kindness with enmity could not be truer than in Jillian Carter’s case.

”Jane Sampson and her husband are very much in love, a fact known to your brother, your mother, and me. Even you are aware of this. Her husband is also a defender. Jillian Carter, how could you harbor such sordid thoughts?” This was the most disappointing thing for Father Carter, ”Do you know that destroying a military marriage is a crime? What makes you think that Jane Sampson’s husband would abandon his wife to be with you?”

Father Carter scoffed, ”Because you’re my, Minister Carter’s, daughter? Because you think Jane Sampson is just an actor? Do you believe that if Jane Sampson’s husband divorces her and I, a minister, am still here, I wouldn’t let that man suffer and could even propel him high into the skies because of you, and that man would regard you highly because of your status?”

Jillian Carter holding her mobile phone was rendered speechless.

Yes, all the glory she felt at Jane Sampson’s expense was because she was Minister Carter’s daughter, because she had a high-ranking official for a father.

Thus, Jillian Carter believed that Mr. Black would eventually come to understand that Jane Sampson was not worthy of being compared to her, Jillian Carter.

”Jillian Carter, I’m laying it out for you today, if you get together with that man, then you’re no longer my daughter, I will sever ties with you. The Carter family cannot produce a child without honor, decency, or shame like you!” Father Carter had to take several deep breaths just to utter these words one by one, ”A son-in-law who would leave his wife for you because of your status is someone the Carter family looks down upon!”

”Starting from today, I will instruct my subordinates to stop assisting you in any of your endeavors. If you want to sideline or bully someone at work, do it on your own merit, I won’t intervene. However, there’s something I must remind you, Jane Sampson is the wife of your lifesaver. If you target her, you, Jillian Carter, are biting the hand that fed you.” Father Carter said, ”If one day her husband personally tells you that he regrets saving your life because it gave you the opportunity to live and mistreat his wife, don’t come home playing the victim.”

”Similarly, if you’re bested and retaliated against, your mother, your brother, and I won’t help you.” Father Carter huffed, ”Do you understand?”

Yet tears fell from Jillian Carter’s eyes like beads off a broken string.

Father Carter’s subsequent words all failed to reach her ears. All she heard was, ”Daddy, just because of an outsider, just because of Jane Sampson, you are going to sever ties with me?”

”Even now, do you think everything is everyone else’s fault? That even my decision to cut ties with you is not your blame but is related to Jane Sampson?” Minister Carter was somewhat astonished, but more than that, saddened, saddened by how he had raised his daughter to be like this.

”Is it not so? Are you not severing ties with me because of Jane Sampson? What’s so good about her? Mom and Brother defend her, they laugh and chat with her whenever they see her, even you, dad, defend her. You all like her so much, then you might as well recognize her as your daughter. Why did you have to have me then?”
