CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1265: Chapter 1273: Saying One Thing But Doing Another

Jane Sampson was speechless.

She reached out and poked James Black’s shoulder, thought for a few minutes, and then asked seriously, ”But what are you upset about?”

Great! Daddy Black was angry, and she had no idea why.

”Ha.” James Black almost laughed out of annoyance, swept away Jane’s randomly poking hand from his shoulder, and then shifted a little to the side.

Although his expression was unclear late at night, his aura and actions conveyed one message.

Think it over and then come find him.

Jane pursed her lips and huffed, also shifting a bit to the side.

After moving, she looked at the gap that could fit another person between herself and James and felt unappeased. She turned over, presenting the back of her head directly to James.

After turning over, Jane started to recall what she did today that might have upset James.

Could it be because she made a fuss about him buying popcorn while shopping and that upset him?

No, that can’t be right.

If he had been upset then, he wouldn’t have taken her for dessert afterward.

Jane thought again and wondered if maybe the photo of her being clingy and hanging onto him was taken, making him feel embarrassed and upset?

That seemed wrong too. At first, when she showed him the news, there was clearly a smile in his eyes, and he was still holding her hand when they went home.

Jane was earnestly trying to figure out why James was unhappy.

Meanwhile, the man next to her was listening to her movements all along.

When James noticed Jane moving to the side, he glanced at her just in time to see her present the back of her head.

James was just waiting, waiting for her next move.

But unexpectedly, she just settled down quietly.

So quiet that it seemed like she had fallen asleep.

James waited five minutes but didn’t hear any movement from Jane. By then, most of his irritation had dissipated, and James let out a soft sigh.

Then he gently moved towards the person who was assumed to be asleep and carefully held her in his arms.

Being upset was one thing, but there was no way he could sleep without holding her.

Listening to the soft breathing of the person in his arms, James turned her so that Jane was facing him, and then with a not-so-gentle movement, pressed her into his embrace. He only calmed down after wrapping his arms around her waist.

In James Black’s arms, Jane secretly opened one eye. When James came over to hold her, she almost burst out laughing.

”Humph, just now who was loudly insisting on not holding me?”

Such a hypocritical person, she hadn’t expected this from James!

Actions contrary to words!

But she couldn’t deny that, in James’s arms, Jane felt as sweet as if she had stolen a piece of milk candy.

Pouting her lips, she looked up and suddenly kissed James. Feeling the person holding her stiffen, she couldn’t help it and laughed out loud.

”Pretending to sleep?” James’s voice was deep, and although it was late, it was incredibly comforting.

”I was counting how long it would take for you to come and hold me,” Jane giggled, wrapping her arms around James’s sturdy waist, her voice sweet and coaxing, ”Although I still don’t understand why you were upset, please don’t be mad. When you’re upset, you ignore people, and I don’t like it when you’re mad.”

”Can’t you come over and coax me?” James blurted out.

After saying that, he immediately felt his statement lacked force, and quickly corrected himself, ”Can’t you reflect and come admit your mistake?”
