CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 996: Chapter 1004: The Reason 30 Years Ago

Coco Edwards followed Jane Sampson into the makeup room and casually asked another question, ”By the way, did your husband mention why those two brothers who are murderers killed an entire family of eleven last night?”

”I didn’t ask,” Jane Sampson had no curiosity to ask James Black about it last night.

However, at this moment, upon hearing Coco’s question, Jane Sampson became curious.

”I’ll ask him now. He must know the reason,” Jane Sampson said cheerfully as she took out her mobile phone and sent a WhatsApp message to James Black.

Chief! Why did those two murderers kill so many people yesterday? Can you tell me? — James Black’s wife.

Jane Sampson wasn’t sure if this involved state secrets, so she added an extra question.

It took two minutes before James Black replied to her message.

After reading it, Jane Sampson stood frozen, then turned to Coco Edwards and said, ”I know the reason why the Bright brothers killed that whole family.”

”What?” Coco Edwards pressed for an answer, and even the makeup artist who had just walked in, came running over to listen.

”The Bright brothers and the killed family were from the same village, although the Bright brothers left the village when they were about fourteen or fifteen,” Jane Sampson relayed what James Black had told her to Coco Edwards and the makeup artist standing by.

”It all started 30 years ago. The Bright brothers’ father died early, leaving only their mom to raise the three siblings. The sister was a year older than Henry, being 16, not yet 17, at that time; they were poor, and none of the three siblings went to school but worked in the fields instead.”

”What happened next?” Coco Edwards felt that this reason, starting 30 years ago, might be shocking.

”On the day before Chinese New Year’s Eve thirty years ago, the Bright brothers went to pull vegetables from the field to prepare for the New Year celebrations. Henry’s mother and sister were cleaning up the house. When the brothers returned home from the fields, laughing and frolicking with vegetables in hand, they found that Henry’s mother and sister had already died in the neighbor’s house. By the time the Bright brothers rushed over there, neither of the two women had a single piece of clothing on their bodies.”

Jane Sampson’s mood became heavy as she continued, ”Henry’s mother and sister were gang-raped and killed by three men from the neighboring house. The girl died on the spot, and Henry’s mother committed suicide in her last breath, unable to bear the shock,” Jane Sampson explained.

”To be happily preparing for the New Year only to have your family destroyed like that, your mother and sister dying so tragically.” Coco Edwards clenched her fist, ”If it were me, I would definitely seek revenge too.”

”The Bright brothers reported it to the police, but their neighbors bribed officials and got the case dismissed. Somehow, the story circulated in the village that Henry’s mother and sister had shamelessly seduced the neighbors, and because of these rumors, the Bright brothers constantly fought with others in the village. Eventually, Henry out of anger vowed to kill everyone one day and left the village overnight with his younger brother.” But leaving the village wasn’t the worst of the Bright brothers’ suffering.

”At the time they left, Henry, the older brother, was only fourteen or fifteen, a teenage child. Once out of the village and away from Capital Province, they snuck onto a train, their destination left to chance, picking up trash and begging along the way. Later, the brothers were duped into working as cheap labor in international black-market mines, until not long ago when they finally escaped and returned.”
