CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 979: Chapter 987: You Actually Scammed Me

”That’s it over there,” James Chip nodded. ”Good thing Jane Sampson isn’t too foolish.”

James Chip had someone throw the bead back to its place, and then everyone followed the trail of beads to pursue them.

Less than ten minutes later, they discovered the traces of Jane Sampson and the murderer.

Jane Sampson must have been deliberately walking slowly, so she was being dragged forward by the murderer, holding a half-remaining bead in one of her palms.

The cries of Jane Sampson were audible to James Chip and his group, sounding scared and tremulous.

”Don’t follow too closely, we might get detected,” James Chip whispered to the people by his side.

The three of them hid behind dense bushes, peeping through the gaps to observe the people ahead.

Just as James Chip felt they had a safe distance and was about to continue following, he suddenly saw Jane Sampson stealthily throw something from her hand, causing a slight rustling sound from the bushes.

Then James Chip heard Jane Sampson shout loudly, ”Police! The police are here!”

James Chip and the others immediately stood up, and unexpectedly, instead of the police, they saw Jane Sampson, tears still on her face, performing an over-the-shoulder throw and slamming the murderer to the ground. Without giving the murderer a chance to react, Jane Sampson swiftly pulled out a hairpin from her hair and stabbed it into the wrist of the murderer on the ground, without any hesitation. In a fluid motion, Jane grabbed the gun from the murderer’s hand and pushed herself several steps away.

The situation changed so quickly that James Chip and his group stood there, dumbfounded.

”Damn! You scammer,” Henry Bright, clutching his wrist in pain, showed his teeth, then swiftly pulled the hairpin stuck in his wrist and threw it aside. He then drew a dagger from his waist.

”A woman like you, I bet you took the gun but won’t know how to use it!” Henry Bright advanced step by step towards Jane Sampson, saying, ”You are just making things harder for yourself!”

”Move one more step and I’ll fire,” Jane Sampson said coldly, hiding any hint of fear from Henry Bright. ”You underestimated me, but since I dared to grab it, of course I know how to fire.”

As she spoke, Jane Sampson skillfully loaded the gun and held it in a textbook posture, aiming the muzzle at the murderer.

Peter Gingery once mentioned that although Jane Sampson was off-target when shooting, her gun-holding pose could fool anyone familiar with guns into thinking she was an expert.

This was just like that day at the show recording, when at first, the instructors led by Liam Woody were full of confidence in Jane Sampson after seeing her holding the gun.

Indeed, as Peter Gingery said, Henry Bright was completely fooled by Jane’s dramatic display, making him retreat repeatedly.

”I really underestimated you,” Henry Bright said, clutching the dagger in his hand like a leopard ready to pounce, his gaze fierce as he stared at Jane Sampson.

”Yes, if I hadn’t cried a few times to make you think I was a fragile woman, you wouldn’t have let your guard down. Did you really think I was pushed out there just now? I scammed you—only by shouting like that would you let down your guard. If I had stepped out voluntarily, you would have paid more attention to me, right?” Jane Sampson said, her lips curled in a smile.

No matter how calm she appeared on the surface at this moment, inside she was truly frightened and felt like crying.
