CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 976: Chapter 984 Good Luck

Now descending the mountain, at most we’ll just delay some time and funding. If something happens, the loss would outweigh the gain. James Chip would never gamble with that kind of hopeful mindset.

After all, these are lives we’re talking about.

”The guard said the police officers will come up from the mountain bottom to meet us. We should encounter them halfway there,” Jane Sampson said.

James Chip uttered an agreement, and then called for Hibiscus Wood and Edward Chip, who were still filming, to wrap up. As soon as Hibiscus Wood heard about the situation, she froze, glanced instinctively toward Jane Sampson’s direction, then without a word, hurried to pack her stuff, constantly urging her two assistants to speed up.

Some items, though not valuable yet bulky, James Chip instructed to be left in the tent just with protection from rain. Seeing that everyone was ready, he led the group down the mountain climb in a hurried manner.

But as the saying goes, whatever you fear, will come to pass.

The group had just walked a few minutes when suddenly, a dirty, burly man burst out from the roadside.

The next second, everyone screamed in fright.

Because this man had a gun in his hand.

Amber Edwards was so scared that she immediately squeezed her way to the back of the crowd, subconsciously wanting to run back to the tent for cover.

An old predecessor noticed Amber Edwards and quickly pulled her back, speaking in a hushed voice, ”You’re risking your life by running around at this time!”

”Staying here is what’s going to get us killed! That man has a gun!” Amber Edwards was both anxious and afraid, tears streaming down her face, ”I need to go back to the tent to hide.”

”There’s another murderer unaccounted for, aren’t you afraid that the murderer’s at the tent right now? If you run back alone, wouldn’t you be walking right into his grasp?” the old predecessor finished speaking and let go of Amber Edwards’s hand, saying, ”That’s all I have to say, if you still want to run back, then it’s on you.”

Everyone knows that at this time, of course, it’s a bit safer to stay in a place with more people.

In a group, should an opportunity arise, everyone might even join forces to subdue the assailant.

Dozens to one is always a better chance than one to one.

”Lucky me, just worrying about being wrapped up like dumplings without any hostages, and lo and behold, heaven sends me so many hostages all at once,” Henry Bright, holding the gun, felt very pleased seeing that the people in front of him were clearly actors.

Actors are great, actors have big influence. Taking an actor as a hostage is much more effective than taking an ordinary person. Henry Bright scanned the crowd, trying to pick out the actor he felt was most familiar. If he had to choose, he wanted the most popular one.

But then he realized that it had been too long since he paid attention to TV shows or the like, so he was somewhat unable to distinguish who was who.

”Come on, who’s going to tell me, who among you is the biggest star? Whoever tells me, I’ll let them go,” Henry Bright’s gaze surveyed the crowd, then lingered on the few wearing the most eye-catching costumes. Pointing the gun at these individuals, he asked, ”Is it you? Or you? Or maybe you, the one in glistening gold?”

The one in glistening gold was naturally referring to Edward Chip, who played the Emperor.

Thankfully, no one in the entire film crew was cowardly enough to betray others. After Henry Bright asked, no one made a peep, each trying to not get noticed as they moved backward.

Jane Sampson could only say that she was lucky today. For the part she was filming in the mountain village, she wore her most elegant clothes, the least glamorous among all her costumes. So in the middle of the crowd, she wasn’t as conspicuous as usual.
