CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 906: Chapter 914: Easy to Come By, Hard to Form Deep Bonds

Because she suddenly received the news that Thomas Lancaster and Yvette Quick had returned, Jane Sampson felt her mood lift after washing the dishes, filled with anticipation of reuniting with good friends after many years apart.

”You seem happy?” James Black moved closer to Jane Sampson, wrapping his arms around her waist, his voice lowering slightly, ”You don’t seem this happy even when you see me.”

Jane Sampson shook her head with a light smile but didn’t respond to James Black.

How could she be so happy to see James Black?

Could this guy take her to eat barbecue skewers? Could he sneak her out to drink wine? Could he take her to try every snack on the street?

Nope.

But Yvette Quick could.

After washing the dishes, Jane Sampson happily returned to her room, then called Nina Rice, and they chatted excitedly on the phone about the gathering happening tomorrow night.

After hanging up, she checked the time and realized she had unknowingly talked for more than an hour.

Jane Sampson put the mobile phone down to charge it, and just as she was about to take a bath, a new message came through on her phone.

It was from Hibiscus Wood.

After reading the message, Jane Sampson turned her head to tell James Black, ”The female lead of my new drama is Hibiscus Wood; she mentioned Charlie Peterson also joined our film crew. Well, that means I already have three acquaintances inside the crew.”

”Hibiscus Wood?” James Black’s impression of her wasn’t as deep as of Mair Williams, but he still remembered Hibiscus Wood.

James Black was definitely spot-on when it came to judging people.

”Hibiscus Wood is good at hiding her thoughts. You can associate with her, but she’s hard to befriend deeply,” James Black warned Jane Sampson.

”I know, when we recorded a show with the guard team, I could already tell that Hibiscus Wood wasn’t an easy person to get along with, not nearly as approachable or straightforward as Mair Williams,” Jane naturally wasn’t foolish; inside her circle, what abounded most were those whose every thought and emotion were complex and intricate.

And Hibiscus Wood belonged to that category.

However, Hibiscus Wood also had a virtue: she wouldn’t easily insult anyone.

Back then, when she spoke against Charlotte Miller during the guard team show, it was because Charlotte Miller had completely disgusted her.

Between people, there is indeed such a thing as chemistry.

Just like Jane Sampson and Mair Williams—a connection formed at first sight, turning them into good friends just a few days after meeting.

But the moment Jane Sampson thought of Mair Williams, she couldn’t help worrying about the personal affairs of the people under James Black.

”Has Liam Woody mentioned anything about Mair Williams recently?” Jane Sampson suddenly remembered that she hadn’t asked about the progress between Mair and Liam Woody since the last time.

”For someone so slim, you certainly meddle a lot,” James Black teased Jane Sampson but still answered, ”A few days ago, Liam Woody met Mair Williams for a meal when he had a meeting in the city, but it was Mair who waited for him in front of the large team, ambushing him as he showed up.”

Getting the answer, Jane Sampson nodded satisfactorily, turned around cheerfully, and floated back to the bedroom to take her bath. Meanwhile, James Black, left in the bedroom, could hear, even through the bathroom door and over the sound of running water, Jane Sampson cheerfully humming a song inside.

The song she was humming, if James Black’s memory served him right, was titled,

Today Is a Good Day.

Hehe, it seemed she was indeed overjoyed tonight.

Thinking of the facial mask and various skincare products Jane Sampson took with her to the bath, James Black knew she wouldn’t be out for a while, so he grabbed a book and went directly to the study to pass the time.
