CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 778: Chapter 786: What Do Women Like Most?

So, when James kept asking her when she was going home, was it because he was afraid she wouldn’t come home?

”It looks like this card game can’t continue,” Quincy Forest shook her head gently. ”Someone here is clearly preoccupied, her heart’s already flown back home to a certain man. She’s got a serious case of preferring love over friends.”

Jane Sampson gave Quincy a coquettish glance. ”You know me best.”

Quincy Forest and Coco Edwards didn’t know that while everyone was talking, James had sent yet another message.

This time it was a text, not a voice message.

Are you getting ready to come home now? — Jane Sampson’s Mr.Black.

It had only been three minutes since the last voice message he’d sent her.

Quincy was right, Jane’s heart really had flown back to James, she wished she could see what expression he was wearing while sending her those messages.

But she still held back.

However, a person whose mind isn’t on the card game will continue to lose over and over again.

It wasn’t until around ten past ten that Jane finally threw down her cards after winning the last hand, then hurried Coco Edwards, ”I need to go home. If I don’t leave now, I’ll be too late to cook.”

”Not bad, you held out a lot longer than I expected,” Coco Edwards nodded, teasing Jane while picking up her keys and bag.

”Jane Sampson, like this, you’re totally henpecked by James Black,” Quincy Forest added her own teasing.

”Who says?” Jane jostled her head, mysterious in her ways, ”You underestimate me! The answer to that is still unknown!”

After playing an absent-minded game of cards all morning, Jane got home at almost 11 o’clock. She could see James standing at the window, looking in her direction as soon as she got out of the car.

”Coco, thanks for the trouble,” Jane thanked Coco Edwards and then swaggered inside with her handbag, keys in hand, opening the door and walking in.

James had moved from the window to the entryway of the doorway.

Seeing Jane come in, James opened his mouth to ask, ”Why didn’t you say you were coming home?”

Jane pretended not to hear, looking down to change into her slippers. As soon as she entered, she tossed her handbag onto the sofa and headed into the kitchen to busy herself with preparing lunch.

James closed the main gate with his foot, and when he turned around, Jane had already entered the kitchen.

James frowned; was she still not speaking to him?

James sat back down in his usual spot, his attention on the kitchen for two minutes, but the distance was too far, and he couldn’t hear any sound.

Even before, Jane often didn’t speak much to him. They would just stay in the house, one person in the study and the other in the bedroom, similar to how one was now in the kitchen and the other in the living room.

Even if they sat down to eat together, it wasn’t guaranteed that they’d exchange a few words.

Back then, James thought it was normal, not like now, feeling antsy, as if something was hanging in the air.

He had no idea how long Jane planned on being mad or ignoring him.

He’d got used to her transitioning from a tranquil person to a chatterbox; suddenly having to readapt himself to silence, James always preferred the Jane Sampson who was so talkative that no number of baskets could hold her words.

Redirecting his focus from the kitchen, James walked to his mobile phone on the tea table, squatting down before it. Then, with the tips of his fingers on his right hand, he struggled to open a browser and typed out — What do women like most?

Unexpectedly, there were quite a few related posts on the internet.
