CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 765: Chapter 773: Waiting is the Key

”Mm.” James Black’s expression remained indifferent; although he had noticed the change in the people’s attitude towards him, it had no impact on him.

He wasn’t here to warm up to these people.

”The auction is about to start, let’s go get our numbers and sit down in the main venue to wait,” said Alexander Forest, who naturally understood his old friend’s character, so he didn’t stay in the banquet hall much longer, and after they got their auction numbers, they headed straight for the main venue.

There were already quite a few people seated in the main venue; this time, without set seats and numbers arranged in advance, it was a first-come, first-served for registration and getting a number to find a seat of one’s liking.

Alexander and James found a spot in the middle with the best view and sat down. There was a brochure already placed on the seats. Flipping it open, one could get an understanding of the day’s auction regulations, including a detailed introduction and seller information for each item up for auction today.

Alexander had no interest in it, flipped through a couple of pages, then tossed it back, ”Didn’t see anything I like, and I can’t think of anything you’d be fond of either.”

James didn’t make a sound, he had meant to reach for the brochure that Alexander had thrown back, but as he moved his hand, it was restrained. James hesitated for two seconds, then gave up and did not ask Alexander to flip through it for him.

About ten minutes later, people from the outer field gradually entered the venue, and since this wasn’t a very large auction event, not many people had come and the seats in the main venue were still half-empty.

Keeping quiet upon entering the main venue was the unwritten rule, so although many people wanted to come over and greet Alexander after seeing him, they had to suppress the impulse. However, around Alexander and James, the seats filled up, and the two men unexpectedly became the focal point.

After the auction event began, Alexander at first watched several items with some patience, but as it neared halfway and he saw no action from James, Alexander’s patience ran out. He took out his mobile phone and began playing with it, leaning towards James and asking in a low voice, ”What is it that you want to bid on? Half of the stuff is already gone. You couldn’t possibly have just dragged me out because you were bored at home and wanted some fresh air, right?”

”Just waiting is all,” James showed not a bit of hurry, simply switched which leg he had crossed and leaned back into the seat, his entire appearance the epitome of ease and comfort.

If it weren’t for the fact that James couldn’t raise his hand to participate in the auction, Alexander would have left by now.

”The next auction item, a jade hairpin from the ancient dynasty, is one of the treasured heirlooms of the O-Young Family. This jade hairpin was personally crafted by the first prime minister of the O-Young Family and gifted to his first wife. Later, every eldest daughter-in-law to enter the O-Young Family was handed this hairpin. It has been very well preserved and passed down to this day. This jade hairpin is offered personally by Old Sir O-Young, with a starting bid price of 5.8 million.”

As the host on stage said this, he motioned to the etiquette staff waiting behind to bring the auction item to the display table for showcasing.

Alexander glanced at it and let out a ”hmm,” ”This jade hairpin is quite nice. If it weren’t for the fact that Old Sir O-Young’s grandson’s subsidiary company had run into a financial crisis and urgently needed funds, Old Sir O-Young surely wouldn’t have been willing to auction off this old artifact. After all, it’s a symbol of the heritage of a clan.”
