CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 459: Chapter 467: Returning to Where One Belongs

However, Jane Sampson had decided at the start of her career that she would not flaunt her association with the Black Family. Therefore, the gossip and rumors that people wanted to spread about Jane Sampson were just the beginning. Today’s incident was only the start, and in the long future, such incidents would keep happening. In this circle, who has managed to debut without a single scandal?

Almost none.

”Since Jane Sampson has stepped into this circle, she can’t be an exception. But you don’t have to worry too much. I’ll keep my promise to you, Jane will keep her promise to you, and we will both adhere to them. As for these minor inconsequential news stories, you shouldn’t pay too much attention to them,” Rock Bell added after finishing, ”You should give Jane a chance to grow. Trust me, she’s far more diligent and ambitious than we think.”

After James Black hung up the phone, his mood gradually settled down.

He couldn’t deny that every word Rock Bell said was true.

But even though he knew this was true, James still felt like there was a thorn in his heart.

The temperature in the mountain village was quite cool at night, which for Jane Sampson, dressed in a gown, was not as bad as the fierce mosquitoes there. Their bites caused her exposed forearms to swell significantly. In the mountain woods, not even mosquito repellents could do much.

”Sister Jane, you’ve finished filming, right?” Elizabeth King, sitting next to her, hurriedly handed a bottle of water to Jane as she walked back. ”Can you head back first?” she asked.

”Mhm.” Jane took the water, had a couple of sips, and then reached for her mobile phone from Elizabeth.

”There’s no signal at all in the mountain village,” Elizabeth said with a pout. ”The mountain’s so high it must be blocking the signal from the base stations.”

When Shirley Young and Harry Humming came over, Jane was washing her swollen arms with water. Seeing this, Harry couldn’t help but laugh and say, ”The mosquitoes here must all be single males that have been alone for years. As soon as they see our Beauty Jane, each one becomes a beast.”

”I have some aloe vera juice. After we go downhill later, come by my room to get some. Your arm is all bitten like this; if you don’t apply some aloe vera juice, tomorrow there will be lots of red, swollen marks. Aloe vera juice has anti-inflammatory and soothing effects, as long as you’re not allergic, you can use it,” Shirley said after looking at Jane for a moment, feeling a surge of admiration within.

They say there are two things in this world you can’t fake: pain and itch.

Her hand was so bitten up, but when she was filming just now, she hadn’t even scratched it once. That showed how much self-control she had, to be able to endure the itch and act as if nothing was happening up until the end of shooting, without it affecting her acting skills in the slightest.

”Thanks, Brother Cheer,” Jane didn’t stand on ceremony with Shirley. She knew that if she didn’t apply something to her hand, she probably wouldn’t be presentable tomorrow.

The three of them chatted and waited for the others who were going to go downhill together before starting down the mountain in a group.

Though it was evening, they all had lighting tools, and the mountain road was not too difficult. They cracked a few jokes along the way, making the journey back seem shorter.

As they neared the village, mobile phone signals returned, and everyone took out their phones in an unspoken agreement.

After being out of touch with the outside world for half a day, the first thing everyone did when their phones got signal again was to check their messages.
